What do you guys think, should you be able to take samus's ship out for a spin this time...Though I won't happen ...and the purest will say hell no "This is Metriod Not some damn Halo Clone!"...Metriod is already strayed from the mold, and this could be a nice feature to overall play, and multiplayer...and no, I don't think this will make it Halo like, because everything has vehicles now....and If you say yes, what kind of vehicles could they use...
Me, I think they should make a should, but with limitations, and I think they should make a small ship, kind of likes Samus's and call it the Viper...damn...(I'm not trying to suck up, I just like the name...) Now what do you think...
Edit: should have made a poll...

no its very un metroid ish
THROW DOWN! Super Street Fighter IV matches. PSN: whyneedasn
If there were multiple planets, then I wouldnt mind using the ship to fly between them, just as long as each planet keeps the trademark exploration and gameplay intact.
But there arent multiple planets, so I don't see how Samus could use her ship other then to heal and save like in the other games.
Well...Her ship is damaged, and it can still float...maybe in the sky to see a good view of things, not out of orbit until the Goodguys...whatever they're called fix it...I also think progressive damage can get some people to stop using it all the time and make it to easy...There could be some classic moments in it...
Edit: oh yeah, If not why not....now you all know when you played the original you were just waiting to get into that ship and soar...

no, its not metroid-like
only if you went planet hopping.
It might be unmetroid ish but it would be fun.
The sun shines on me no more.
I wouldn't mind taking her ship for a flight, but if they ever do actually do this it had better be good, not like those lame SFA Arwing "missions."
EDIT: I think it would be really cool if you had to pilot her starship off of the planet at the end of the game during the bomb countdown (because there is ALWAYS a countdown, except in Metroid 2). Maybe that should be the extent of the flying.

No, I wouldn't want that...but whoever called Metroid Prime a Halo clone doesn't deserve to play videogames.

not in a metroid game. just doesnt seem to fit.
if a game was made that emphasised samus as a bounty hunter (a game like freelancer) then it would fit. example, waiting around in a bar on some planet. samus gets a call. u can choose to accept the mission or not. if u do u run out of the bar into the ship fly off to the place where u catch the person/thing ur after.
but if a game like that was made, it shouldnt be a metroid game because it doesnt have u only going after metroids.
It would be nice to have a little scene where you can fly. For example, there could be a chase scene where you follow this enemy that leads you to a trap or something and your ship gets damaged and has to land.
It would be cool but very unmetroidish.
A chase scene, the countdown, planet hopping or even a brief usage to get to a new area of the planet but nothing to extensive and it might work. Retro has shown they can take what seems like a far out there idea and make it convincingly Metroid.
Nice name.
I know it's far from Halo if that's what you mean...They're in 2 different catagories....and yes, I know this would be very unmetriodish, but what's the world without change...They may add it in MP3, and everyone would say "Now we can fly, that's a good extra feature for the game now"...or the fanboy "We can fly in the ship! Now we have Gameplay, Multiplayer, and Vehicles! Take that Halo!" Multiplayer is very unmetriodish, but I believe if they make more, it will become metriodish....change always takes time, we have to first test it before anything I believe...Originally Posted by Blaksmoke

It is not unmetroidish to change the gameplay. If you still know you are playing metroid then there is nothing to worry about.
They could use it like at the true end of Star Fox 64 where you have to fly while an explosion is chasing you....Don't know how that would work out, but I loved that part of SF64

A Freelancer-style spinoff would be neat.
Yet if you wanted to retain the "Metroid" gameplay, imagine slowly navigating Samus' gunship through space debris (maybe the ruins of a Chozo space city), scanning the area for space relics (and reeling them in with a tractor beam). Or using it to clear a landing zone of a Space Pirate base before landing. Or for puzzles in general? As in, one puzzle would involve you guiding the gunship by remote control and having it hover right over a chasm. Samus would then use the gunship as a makeshift platform to jump across said chasm.
The aspect of controlling the gunship has good potential. If it's done right, it could be a winner.
Oh yeah, one more thing...instead of 3d person, how about 1st in the ship...you would be able to see the inside of it....limited but still can see it...Upload virus on viruses onto ships in multiplayer and cause a it to crash, not just jam the systems...and like 4 different types maybe....
Metriod Mind changer...\/
That kinda swayed me to thinking not every metriod has to follow the same formula to be good...

Yeah that is a great idea. They can make even more puzzles that involve the ship and it would be fun at the same time. And piloting the ship would be first person so it's still from her point of view and it limits too much activity with the ship. They should definitely have this option in the next metroid.Originally Posted by MagicJuggler
