Since the X-box has the best raw hardware stats, I think it will be a great console. Below I have some more explanation about my opinion of the upcoming consoles:

Hey everyone. Time to express my thoughts on the upcoming Game cube. First off, I don't think the GameCube is going to be as great as it is hyped up to be. At first, I thought it would be cool, then I read about the PS2's stats and the XBox's stats. I also watched the press conference that Bill Gates gave about the XBox on the Internet. I saw the graphics and they went over the specs, and I was quite impressed. Yes, it's from Microsoft, but Microsoft is also an AMERICAN-based company. Only Atari is the other American based game system company. The biggest downfall of the GameCube is that it has no DVD ROM compatability. The disks are slightly smaller, so it doesn't double as a DVD player. It also lags in raw system specifications, so I wonder how much power it will have compared to the other systems. That's just my opinion, and contests are welcome.
    NOT!

It may be just me, but I don't see much hype behind GCN. It under-rated by Nintendo. Everything from lower than possible poly counts, to audio channel capabilities.

The only downfall about not supporting DVD playback, is lacking a few GB's of space. But you'd only need that from FMV, or pre-rendred stuff. Things GameCube doesn't need much of since it's powerfull enough not to rely on PR, heavily. Also DVD playback wil make each console at least 20.01 more expensive. Not to mention extra materials needed, extra programming, and decoder hardware.

Remember GameCube is the Anti-64. Look at Nintendo's history.
NES:Great, but had a few knacks to work out.
SNES:Solved development troubles, and had superior visual capability.
N64:The good old cartridge format wasn't enough. It was a hard nut to crack for developers, and had the old Nintendo's kiddie mentality stamped all over it.
GCN:Has 1.5GB DVD-ROM's, extremley easy to develop for, GBA connectivity, and friednlier 3rd party support.

Jus wait until after E3 to throw some flames around.

hey man..welcome...well your right...but Nintendo have a lot of support behind them.

  8. Hyp what world are you living in. Xbox and PS2 are way more hyped than GC. That is Nintendos Advantage, not a disadvantage. At E3 Nintendo will show of all there stuff they have kept so quiet about. Platforms are not ment to play DVDs if you want a DVD player buy aDVD player. PS2 Is a low quality DVD player. Those specs you thought that proved your point are decieving. Nintendo gave actual numbers considering real Game play, PS2 and Xboxs polygon counts lacked all efects. Effects take a huge hit on polygon count. As for the Hardware Nintendo is very comparable to the Xboxs GPU. If Pretendo reads this he will probably post that huge post he rote in another post to prove my point. I just cant remember every bit of it.

nintendo will defiantly win! it has to win. xbox is crap!

  11. Well I usually don't bother guessing who's gonna win, but their are a few things that point in Nintendo's favor.

    1: Brand recognition
    2: Price
    3: Child appeal
    4: Parent appeal
    5: Nintendoits
    6: Good games
    7: Better games
    8: Metroid
    9: Zelda
    10: Pokémon
    11: Mario
    12: Factor 5
    13: Rareware
    14: Silicon Knights
    15: Miyamoto
    16: Controller
    17: Easy development platform

That about sums up the best of the best.

  12. I agree Nintendo may have a better chance than M$ it is realy to hard to tell at the moment. Xbox has some pros and some cons but I won't go into that. There is not as many cons with GC though. how could there be most people don't even know that it exists. Even the most hardcore gamers don't know alot about GC. E3 will show the world GC and Xbox and PS2 will be the old news. Since they chose to release all there information.

  13. E3*sigh*

i wouldn't care if it all mounted up graphics wise to the equal of a ps2 or dreamcast as long as the games and the sytem overall were better...personnally i think they went to far this time..the leap was too great coz it may be a very long time until we see that kinda leap again!

Well people seem to constantly forget that really it majorly comes down to the games not the hardware

  16. X-box has nice graphics, huh? I heard that they used a computer to pretty them up, so they would look nicer. This could mean the graphics aren't as good as they appear.

    Whats the difference?

  18. The only thing Microsoft really has on it's side is the steady flow of cash it gets.

Other than that they have no reputation in the console market and your average Joe Shmoe Console-gamer's not gonna be onthe interenet daily checking up on the progress of the console wars. He/she will prbaly just see a commercail, or something in the store. And there's the large possiblity that the name Microsoft may be misleading and make one cocieve of it as a PC product. Lets not forget MSFT lacks franchises and legends of game design that Nintendo flourishes with.

The real threat is PS2 not XB.

  19. i think XBOX is a threat just becuz everyone in the fricken world knows who they are people will buy their shit just becuz of their name and also if they start to fail they have more money than god so if start to tail off theyll just start payin people to make games....as for PS2 they are a threat also just becuz of the PS1 success..CUBE has the nintendo factor but some might now wanna buy cuz the N64 was basically shit except for a few games plain and simple. i aint gonna say whose gonna win cuz its impossible. i think it all comes down to games, honestly look at the PSX and SATURN..almost equal graphics and neck and neck until the greatest game of all time comes out Final Fantasy 7. so the system with the exclusive kick ass game will probably win.

Thats something Microsoft and Xbox fanboys have failed to notice.
