US = $150
Canadian = $230
Japanese = 18,000 yen
Square has reportedly signed an agreement with Sony to begin selling the PlayStation 2 harddisk peripheral directly through Square's website in Japan. The peripheral, which is required to play Square's online RPG Final Fantasy XI, will boast 18,000 yen. While its currently unknown exactly how many units Square has been allocated, the company plans to begin shipping harddisk orders beginning December 20. To date, more than 180,000 players have purchased the PlayStatio2 and PC versions of Final Fantasy XI in Japan. Details regarding the game's release in America however remain undisclosed.

You HAVE to have this to play online?
To play some games online.
i wanted to get the harddrive to play FFXI but $150 is a lot. i hope the price goes down by the time FFXI comes out in the US. (if it ever does come out here) I'll probably just get the game for the PC.
thats as much as a fucking gamecube...no thank you

I have a feeling Sony's HDD attachment is going to sell horribly...
the only reason I would have got that (had I still had a PS2) would be FF XI and that is also the only online game I would have wanted So I'm not going to pay 250 dollars just to play one game...I'll get myself an Xbox and a game to boot...Sony is pulling a really dumb move with this

man this is crap, i thought all you had to to was by the modem, now this shit, god damnit!
