Because... We'd like to know.
Running a $300 HP PC I bought in the sales that I've been tinkering with.
Year ago when I bought it I ripped out the CPU + fan, flashed the motherboard , put the fastest CPU I could find in, and added an nVidia 8600GT to replace the intel integrated video. Result, very nice gaming PC for very little money.
It can't hack DX10 so today it got another upgrade.
9800GT bought pretty cheaply.
New $30 psu to replace 250Watt one, 450Watt now
I'm going to use it for all my multiplatform games. Native res of my TV, silky smooth frame rates, 360 pad, all that good stuff...
Think I've doubled my 3DMark 06 for about $120, there abouts.
It's a noisy bugger now.
August last year I bought a new graphics card, 9800 GTX for 150 CAD, replacing a X1900 GT IIRC
Replaced my motherboard, CPU, and RAM in early April. Cpu from a Pentium D820 to a E8400 and RAM is now 2 GB @ 1000 MHz. My parts were getting old and kind of... err... faulty. Pretty much necessitated the upgrade. Costed about 400 buckah total.
only thing ive changed in my pc in the odd year or so ive owned it is the ram, just doubled the capacity
picked up a 60 gig ssd the ocz vertex. its on the way in the mail.
1000 watt PSU to feed teh hungry quad GPU goodnes.
We the people...
^Man.. That sounds awesome. I'm sure the lights dim when you turn the monster on in your house.
its is spectacular... when i can get Vista 64 to let a game run for more than 20 min before crashing...
We the people...
I replaced by old piss poor 500 watt power supply with a PC Power and Cooling 610 watt bad ass.
Will be updating my graphics card in the next week or two from an ATi X1950XTX to an ATi HD4850.
Didn't you get a dual card set or something Viper?
I was going to build a new computer early this year but decided to keep this one for now and build anew next year instead.
If I were to buy a dual card set up I'd probably buy the HD 4850X2. It's $185 after rebate (when it's in stock, hehe). The X2 line is more stable than standard 2 card crossfire and uses less power.
^That's sweet, rebates ftw! I wouldn't have gotten my new card if it wasn't for the sexy rebate attached to it :P
I think it was a 30 dollar rebate? Can't remember.
