probably having a Toy Story 2 crisis. Nothing fits well, story sucks and they are waiting for daddy (Koji) to come home and fix it 9 months before launch.
Not shaping up well. They had nothing to show in the last two years, and it looks like there won't be anything this year either. Not a Kojima game, apparent lack of ideas, no storyline details other than a vague timeline... Not worth the MGS title.

I sort of "hope" they cancel it and make a PROPER MGS5/6 (incl. or excl. PW).
Kept you waiting
I knew it's kinda going to fail at the moment were the genre was specified.
You mean it's already failed?
I really don't see the need for quite so much hatred for a game we've yet to see much of. As for a potentially late 2012 release, none of us is a game developer so we haven't any idea as to how development can progress depending on the studio.
Perhaps a late 2012 release was planned so as to ensure the financial implications of development are covered even in a worst case scenario. Maybe there is going to be a change of voice actor as has happened between the inFamous games. It seems to be in pretty poor taste that so many people are eager for this game to fail.
It's not as though there haven't been other great games from people other than Kojima, it's not as though Kojima is the only reason the games are well-made and highly polished, and it's not as though Kojima is without fault in terms of his game-design and writing.
Why the hopelessness?

My worry when it was initially announce was that Kojima Production could only handle one big game at a time and I desperately want non-MGS game from Kojima. As long as I get that I won't care what stupid MGS spin-off money grab Konami wants to make.
The thing with the development is that we are 2 years since it was announced prematurely by MS, since then we've only seen tech demos which have the tendency of not translating into a well made game.
I dont think anyone thinks the game will fail. I think everyone is expecting the next big AAA game from Kojima productions and this isnt looking good. Its just disheartening to see him distancing himself as much as he has from this game when he was all over Castlevania. Its disheartening not seeing any footage when MGS4 was plastered all over the place for three years with tons of trailers. Its disheartening that retailers have kept on updating their release date for this game. They dont pull these dates out of a hat. Konami gives them a launch window and to see that keep getting pushed back and back and back with no news on the game is again disheartening.
Also for some of us Kojima has given us some of the greatest gaming experiences of our lives so you can downplay him as any other fallable game designer all you want but im willing to bet everyone in this forum has one of his games in their top 5 games list of all time and that my friend not many ppl can accomplish. Sorry if you dont see it that way or love him as much as we do but Koj is more than just any other game designer. He is one of the greatest of all time and always will be!!!
I have no doubt Rising will be a decent game but we dont wait in eager anticipation for 4 years to play decent games from Kojima productions. We wait for great games.
In my opinion it looked completely dull. Why the hopelessness?
I was interested to see more of it, I thought it looked better than MGS4 from a visual standpoint.
So anyone up for crazy E3 rumors. I've missed these
A reliable source told iWaggle3D today that the Raiden-centered MGS spin-off Metal Gear Solid Rising has switched developer, escaping Kojima Production to infiltrate Platinum Games (Bayonetta, Vanquish). Viewtiful Joe and Bayonetta creator Hideki Kamiya is apparently directing the game.
But wait, there is more...
While unable to confirm nor deny Move support for Rising, our source shed some light on future plans regarding the MGS franchise as a whole.
Besides confirming the PS3 remake of Peace Walker (likely to be a "PSP Remaster" with possibly 3D support, albeit he couldn't tell for sure), he also revealed that the next installment in the "main" MGS franchise (Metal Gear Solid 5, basically) is scheduled for this generation as a multiplatform release, with PS3, Xbox 360, NGP and "possibly 3DS" mentioned as landing platforms.
Finally, PC remakes of MGS1, MGS2, MGS3 and MGS4 are bound to be released digitally via Valve's e-Commerce portal Steam.
Of course, like with any rumor, you might want to digest all of the above with a pinch of salt. While I have no reason not to trust the source that shared these details (I wouldn't relay this information to you otherwise), internal production plans can change, so...
Hopefully the upcoming E3 will set things in stone with some official confirmations from Konami.
Question to everyone, How would the switch in developer effect your anticipation of the title?
http://www.iwaggle3d.com/2011/05/rum...e-for-mgs.html
Well if you want to make a lightning, bolt and action game ( hack and slash ) then Kamiya is the man. I have a hell of a lot more faith in him than the current director whos experience only extends to arcade cabinet light gun shooters.
LOL, crazy indeed. Not happening. Finally, PC remakes of MGS1, MGS2, MGS3 and MGS4 are bound to be released digitally via Valve's e-Commerce portal Steam.

You know whats sad is I could see this happening. You look at last year's conference, most people thought they would skip a conference this year but their buying time at theaters so they obviously have something to show and MGS is their bread and butter right now and their gonna milk it as much as possible. I'm not saying it's gonna happening I just saying it wouldn't surprise me if it did.
PSP games don't tax the PS3's hardware in any real way, adding 3D in games (as in cg movies) is as simple as adding a 2nd camera. It's barely any effort at all. Trophies would take time and effort to put into the game. What would the trophies be, coding the triggers for those trophies within pre-existing code, bug testing, etc. With the more graphically impressive games like KZ and GT5, then yeah you need some head room and time and effort. But for a PSP game on PS3? Pfft. Throw a twin camera in and clock out for lunch time.

I'd rebuy MGS on Steam. I'd do that in a heartbeat.
Kamiya and Kojima response, Kamiya has a few more tweets about it at around 12 hours ago
http://www.andriasang.com/e/blog/201...l_gear_rising/The rumor originated overseas, but quickly made it on to Japanese humor blogs like My Game News Flash. A link to the My Game News Flash story was passed along to Platinum Games' Hideki Kamiya, who responded "So this rumor has also come to Japan." Hideo Kojima replied to Kamiya's Tweet, saying "But it would be nice if it were true."
Wow! RT @threnodycreed: interesting rumor about you directing Metal Gear Solid: Rising. Tease me a little with your answer about it. :3?Great honor, but I would prefer Getsuhu-maden. RT @wario64: What is this about you directing Metal Gear Solid Rising? Rumor on NeoGAFBut the truth is... RT @brianjkim: If the rumor that @PG_Kamiya is making Metal Gear Solid: Rising is true, I may die from excitement.I've never played MGS series yet... RT @brianjkimYup, the very wonderful one. RT @krokounleashed: @PG_kamiya Hope your new game will be shown soon.
No Rising info at this year E3, still planning 2012 release.
Meh. MGS3 HD is all I need![]()
