Problems with BC?

I have a backwards compatible PS3 and have been playing ps2 games on it and only it (my ps2 is stored away). Today I got Ar Tonelico II to play and it won't load..... I tried a different game (persona 3) and it loaded fine.

Is there some games that just won't work on a BC system?

The game isn't even listed on that site..

Though it does say the first one had problems until a firmware update.

Unfortunately, BC isn't 100%

Some just won't start, others crash in certain places.

There are also PS1 games that dont work or only with some issues (it also was like that on the PS2). I think the 60 & 20 GB US and Japan launchmodels are 100% PS2 BC because the have the complete hardware built in.

Annoying, I know (my one doesn't support any PS2 games..)

I wish Sony put the "It's a PS family so we want PS3 to play all previous PS games" idea to practice (i know it wasn't possible due to financial reasons and whatnot.....but just sayin')

Ya it totally sucks... I think from what I've heard it only has like a 85-90% B/C capability?

Ah damn. Yeah I got the 80GB with Metal Gear and thought it was fully B/C. Well it has played every game so far except this one. That kind of sucks but oh well I guess, just have to get out the ps2.

Or hope for it to be fixed in a future firmware update......

Anyway, sorry to hear about your game not playing. I wish my 40gb was BC so i could play Sotc on it and some other games.

I'd be able to play ZOE 2 if I had a BC model.

Sure for one game 99 for a PS2 seems so high... but i keep adding titles to that list so it doesn't seem so bad... but then again.. i got PS3 games I wanna play... its a vicious circle.
