I dunno about films but what im thinking of is a Dead Space 2 3D type of game. Dont tell me that wont enhance the horror experience. Also way too many big companies seem to be invested in this for it to be a gimmick even in movies. Im sure it would work well in certain genre movies like adventure for kids or a Jurassic Park/King Kong spectacle but obviously not all. Horses for courses if you will.

New PSN Titles On the Way Confirmation of several mysterious downloadables.

A press release was sent out today -- along with a post on the official PlayStation Blog -- that announced several PSN games during Sony's "Spring Fever" network push. Although the majority of the press release and blog post concern the upcoming release of thatgamecompany's Flower and other approaching launches, there is a list of previously unknown titles that finish off the announcement.

Besides already announced titles like Flock and Texas Cheat-em, the press release notes the following games as being available on the PlayStation Network sometime in the future: CellFactor Ignition, Diner Dash (likely a port of a previous version), Comet Crash, Hammer Fall, a new Worms game and Zen Pinball. Although no details are given regarding these downloadables, more information is likely to be released in the coming weeks.

Since it's coming to X360 as well, I don't think it's going to be one of those $19.99 games but rather full retail (or close to retail price) unless it's hitting X360 in online form too.

humm now im wondering... i remember this game being demoed in 2005 or 06 it was one of the few game's that required the agina cards in PC they had pland on having it as a launch title on 360 but it could not hackit without a PPU so it was canced on 360 after trying it out running it on a PS3 dev kit it was green lighted for a port as cell had a easy time after some adaptions to the PPU code. all was great till the media decided PS3 was dOOOmed and the project was axed...

soo now the question is raised

    1. did they find a way to majicly create a PPU from nothing for the 360.
    2. the game is WAY dumbed 360s CPU
    3. there will be three versions one for 360 another one for PS3/PC

the vid is available on you tube... including a version without a PPU where a PC is choking

Yeah, it's too bad that it's taking them so long to release something new. They've been working on the Eden update and there will be an Eden expansion soon. They are working on Monsters for PSP (and they also released that Monsters update on PS3 not so long ago, and the Encore expansion before that) as well as on a number of undisclosed projects, presumably the upcoming PJ games. Dungeons might not be the next one, they said they'll probably release something else before that one.

I wish they made some kind of PJ RPG.

Eidos agrees to Square Enix takeover

The BBC is reporting that Square Enix has "agreed" to buy Eidos for GBP 84 million.
This is a weird one. I would have thought that just the Lara rights alone are worth more in the long run. Surprise nobody else bid for Lara and agent 47. I would have thought this was right up EA's alley. God lets just hope Wadda doesnt turn Lara's personality into one of those shy girl Japanese types and her gear into a Japanese schoolgirl uniform because then Drake and the Prince will have really owned her.

I really enjoyed the first game.

Guitar Hero Greatest Hits compilation for 2009
    Talk about milking it.

Activision has three new IPs for 2009
So that would be Singularity, Prototype and what kind of racing game ? Probably Project Gotham Racing 5 but with a different name since its from Bizzare Creations.

New Bond game delayed until 2010

    First Beatles Game Details

According to McCartney, "It will feature different periods of the band -- you get early days, Liverpool, then psychedelic, and on from there. It's very cool. And I like the idea that the game introduces kids to music, you know?"

Sounds like the former Beatle is pretty hip to videogames as a means of introducing music to new audiences (although, not all gamers are kids, Sir McCartney). So, it seems the Beatles game will drift from the clean-cut days of "Help!" and "A Hard Day's Night" into the more experimental sounds of "Sgt. Pepper" and "Yellow Submarine." Will the game feature stages set in such important locations as Abbey Road Studios the rooftop of the Apple building? Quick, somebody ask McCartney before a Harmonix publicist gets a hold of him.
    Activision Retools Tony Hawk

Activision announced today during an annual financial call that it will be retooling the now decade old Tony Hawk series. Few details were given other then the next game will deliver a new interactive approach to skateboarding through the use of a brand new gameplay mechanic.

  15. Every time I think SE's management isn't stupid, they do something to re-assure that status. Of all the Western devs... I guess due to their stupid management they have been loosing a lot of money and now can't afford a good purchase. Hell, they could've set up a completely Western dev team for cheaper. With all the layoffs in the industry, they wouldn't have a problem finding people to hire. They could've also bought a much better team, built on it and expanded it. There is a ton out there- especially on the PC side.

If FF13 doesn't make them a lot of money, they are in deep shit for real.

  16. Kuju Reveals Next-Generation Game Engine Technology

Kuju Entertainment today announced that it is making a substantial investment in its next generation of game engine technology. Code-named “Fabric”, this engine targets the offerings of all the game platform and technology manufacturers in the next couple of years, as well as supporting the competitive latter part of the cycle for the current top-specification consoles. Particular emphasis will be included for the imminent generation of massively multi-core devices.

Adrian Hawkins, Technical Director of Kuju said: “This is so much more than just building another renderer; we have been developing this engine in a fundamentally different way to previous generations of technology. Fabric enables straightforward scaling based on the number of processor cores available, and ensuring all game code is developed within a framework of granular task modelling. Our studios will make their first use of it in the second half of this year.”

Ian Baverstock, CEO of Kuju added: “Several of our studios have already started looking at the implications of the upcoming many-core technologies and it is great to be able to announce this investment into the central R&D team for the benefit of the whole group. Kuju has been around for long enough to know the importance of preparing well in advance for the major changes that new hardware can bring; we think it’s important to start preparing for the next wave now.”

Supposedly it's a Wii game using the Balance Board or their own Skateboard peripheral.

Free Realms PS3 coming in Q3 '09 with extra content

Free Realms associate art producer Sebastian Strzalkowski has confirmed that the PlayStation 3 version of the family-orientated MMO from Sony Online Entertainment will be released in Q3 2009.

The PC version is due in April, though SOE aims to make up for the delay by offering exclusive content for the PS3 release. Furthermore, the game will be available to download free for Sony’s black box straight from PlayStation Network.

Free Realms boasts a dedicated work force of over 100 individuals working on the project SOE’s San Diego headquarters, and is primarily targeted at the causal gaming market and children aged between 10 – 14.
