Certainly not going the way of Project H.A.M.M.E.R. NOE has confirmed an Oct 24th release date. No word on the US or Japan yet.
Here are several dozen, unfortunately low quality, images.

Yeah I've been really interested in this game recently since news started popping up about it still being alive. Good to see they are all true. I'm also hoping for a US release date announced soon, and I'm extremely hoping the game doesn't suck.
Im still sad the H.A.M.M.E.R. has fallen... But i got MadWorld which has hammer like objects to mash things with.
Even low res they show what its about pretty good.
It seems some one loved Time Crisis on the dev team.
I hope its not an anticlimax. It has some real potential to be a sweet game.
^That can be said for any game that's trying something new like DOC is. Let's just hope Nintendo can spread that magic beyond the scope of family friendly games.
Big thanks to Ihsiin for the sig!

Mashing crap for endless hours is just some thing you have to like, Guantlet comes to mind. I mean the levels changed(somewhat) and the monsters you mash(also some what) but its technicaly the same thing for 30 some odd hours. If you enjoy that kinda of overkill-based brutality in game style and mental suffering then you would understand the pain i personaly felt when HAMMER was canned...
In D&D i always used hammers for my dwarf, its just a personal thing.
GoG I think is correct. HAMMER has not been officially canceled just put on hold. It makes sense to get WM+ on board to allow for more varied weaponry and attacks.
new Japanese TV Spots are available on Japan's Nintendo Channel.

this game is looking great. though the gameplay looks a bit iffy. i keep getting a bad feeling that the action is too scripted and may consist of too many quicktime events. will have to wait until some hands-on impressions are available. but my anticipation for this game is still pretty high.
Dezastaa
the fact that the japanese version of the game is already in english (with japanese subtitles) makes me think that the US version must be pretty much done as well, so NOA better hurry up and announce a release date. i really hate this "announce the date 2 weeks before the date itself!" bullshit nintendo keeps pulling.
Big thanks to Ihsiin for the sig!

This looks a lot like SOS: The Final Escape on the Ps2 which I absolutely loved, this might even be a indirect sequel?
I gotta say if this is Wii only (and not coming out on PS2), I will seriously consider purchasing a Wii.
I know it's a bit odd to purchase a Wii for THIS game but I don't always make the most sensible choices lol and SOS: TFE had mad immersion on the PS2 and it was awesome just going around surviving/ solving puzzles etc.
It will end up being mediocre or shit to most of you I'm sure if it's 'not your thing' but if it clicks with you, it'll be an awesome experience.
And yeah it's a mix of scripted events carrying on the story but now and then you get path choices/ who to save choices/ dialogue choices etc which actually effect the outcome (SOS: The final escape had I think 8 endings, I got 2 of them then got bored lol).
This might be different but I doubt it, everything looks so similar so they are probably going with most of the design choices they made in the first one.
(apologies in advance if I'm completely wrong between the connection of this and SOS: TFE lol)
I don't think there is any direct connections.
SOS: The Final Escape is known as Disaster Report in the US which was developed by Irem Software Engineering and published by Agetec.
Disaster: Day of Crisis is developed by Monolith Software whom Nintendo bought it last year and as such they will be publishing it. Obliviously this also makes it Wii exclusive.
However, Agetec published a sequel to SOS that was released last year if you're interested.
They gone and made the sequel name 'Raw Danger' I just found out....Never crossed my mind such a mediocre game would get a sequel and with a totally different name lol...
Just bought it now from Amazon, thanks a lot for the heads up man.
(this and Yakuza2 are bringing the Ps2 back!)
Back on topic: Damn I dunno what to say, they sure did a good job of capturing the 'Disaster Report' feel with this, I guess they saw the same potential I did and wanted to build on it.
I have the ka-ching now for a Wii and been pondering about it (hence my slightly growing activity at thsi side of the board) and I think I will just grab one very soon.
Saw more gameplay videos of this and I'm starting to get a bit worried. The game kinda looks too easy and more casual. Guess we'll see when the game comes out.

Gameplay Montage
the CG scenes look very good. sets the tone for the game effectively. whether it portrays the tone correctly is still to be seen.
the gameplay looks good aside from seeming to be broken up into sections. i really hope it's just the way the game is being shown in trailers. if the game isnt free roam, it's going to be disappointing.
