Seriously I'm crazy...insane even, but I'm not ready for a new Zelda to come out on the Wii. Especially if it is to come out this holiday season...Only 2 years apart from Twilight Princess.
Zelda this Zelda that...I'm kind of sick of Zelda to be honest with you guys. Don't get me wrong, If a new Wii Zelda comes out, I'll buy it one day one...that's just part of my religion. But look at the break Mario took between Super Mario 64 (96), Super Mario Sunshine (02) and Super Mario Galaxy (08). Look at Super Metroid (94) and Metroid Prime (02). Those two franchises had pretty long breaks inbetween their titles at some point and time. (I know the Primes have been close together though). But I consider Mario, Zelda and Metroid Nintendo's 3 biggest franchises of all-time, and I think it's time to give Zelda a break. Yes Zelda had a break of 7 years between Link to The Past and Ocarina of Time ...but we got an original GameBoy title, then quickly followed with Majora's Mask and the original Oracle games too. Basically...since 2000 we've had 8 original Zelda games released (Majora's Mask, Oracle.., Wind Waker, 4 Swords Adventure, Minish Cap, Twilight Princess, and Phantom Hourglass).
Then last year Nintendo gave us Link's Crossbow Training...big deal right? Yeah I know. But I'm really hoping Nintendo doesn't show us this new accessory which will be packed in with something like "Link's Sword Fighting". We got a Zelda spin-off with a packed in accessory last year. I really don't even want to see a new Zelda until Wii2 eventually comes out.
I don't know...most of you won't agree with me...but really if Nintendo were to show 3 of the following games to be released for the 2nd half of 2008. And maybe 4 others to be released for the 1st half of 2009 I'd be very happy...any franchises off the list below (I'm talking about for Wii not Wii and/or DS)
1080 Snowboarding
Blast Corps
Chibi Robo
Donkey Kong (platformer)
Doshin
Earthbound
F-Zero
Geist
Golden Sun
Kid Icarus (never got into the first one but would like to see Nintendo bring a new vision into the franchise in 3d)
Kirby (platformer)
Pikmin
Pilotwings
Punch-Out
Star Fox (a good one)
Starfy
Uniracers
Wave Race
Yoshi (platformer/adventure)
I think the list above is a very fair list. I'm sure we'll see some of those pop-up at E3. I'm expecting Animal Crossing (which I'm not much of a fan of) at E3, and possibly a Mario Tennis or Mario Golf (We Love Golf comes out tomorrow so my Mario Golf demand is very low at the moment). But I want some of the franchises we don't see often (Punch-Out, Pilotwing, F-Zero), ones that are still new (Pikmin, Golden Sun), the ones that never made it to America (Starfy, Doshin) and the one's that have been forgotten (Uniracers, Geist, Blast Corps). I am excited for Wario Land Shake It too...I'm very happy to see that coming.
Last but not least, I'd like to see Nintendo announce some serious titles coming out for Wii Ware. The type of stuff that makes Wii Ware the obvious favorite for original downloadable games. Capcom had the right idea with a game as simple as Mega Man 9. I'd like to see Nintendo make new entries of some of the following franchises on Wii Ware, since the games are too simple in design to warrant them getting a retail release and regular retail price. But I'd like to see a graphical upgrade....no 8bit look like Mega Man 9. The games I'd like to see are the following.
Balloon Kid
Drill Dozer
Excite Bike
Ice Climber
Kirby Tilt & Tumble
And of course on Wii and Wii Ware...I'd like to see some new franchises...but a new big franchise like when we first saw Pikmin. Not like when we first saw Wii Fit. I want a new hardcore gamer franchise.
These are a lot of demnds, but definetly do-able. Basically..I want Nintendo to push it's Wii Ware service and release some good 1st party games on it. And for them to bring back some of their older franchises....7 from that list is very do-able to expect over the next year. Nintendo released Zelda, Mario, Smash Bros, Metroid Prime, Super Paper Mario, Mario Kart, Fire Emblem, Battalion Wars, Wario Ware, Wii Sports, Wii Fit, Excite Truck, Mario Strikers and a few others within a year and a half. And Mario, Zelda, Smash Bros and Metroid are HUGE franchises which take a lot more time and resources than almost any of the games on my list. I'd like to see at least some of what I'm hoping for.
Mainly F-Zero, Punch-Out, Pilotwings and of course Earthbound (but why even bother hoping for it)
Just please...no more Zeldas....I want to see the other nintendo franchises instead
By the time you read this...I'm sure Nintendo will have had their press conference, and you'll know if I got what I wanted or not

Its not like if they announce one at E3 itll come out soon. I wouldnt mind if they announced one and showed a teaser trailer or even just some concept art or just talked about some ideas for it, because it wont come out for like another 2 years. But even if they don't reveal one, I wouldnt mind. Id love to see DK:Jungle Beat 2, Golden Sun, F-Zero, Pikmin, Yoshi's Island 2 (a proper one. maybe even a 3d thing). Those are just from your list. Just one or two of those would be nice.
Maybe some first party Wii Ware games. Like a Mario adventure that comes out in episodes, and each episode is like 1 world or something.
Speaking of Ghiest, i kinda hope that Retro makes it their next project, or, if the Conduit does good, High Voltage looks at it. It always had so much potential from an idea point of view.
As for Zelda, i agree, let them take their time.
the major zelda games have always been a few years apart and the next one for wii is going to follow that trend. even if it gets teased at E3 it wont be out til holiday 09 the earliest. though expect a 2010 release or 2012 onwards if they push it to the next console.
their lesser praised and/or new IPs will fill the next 2-3 years. it'll start with Punchout to promote MotionPlus. Ninntendo shouldnt be so silly to use Zelda again for promotion. then expect a good Donkey Kong title thrown in the mix.
I expect Nintendo can hit some realistic release dates.
I also forgot to mention Disaster.
I loved DK Jungle Beat, would love to see a sequel with wiimote support.
Smash Bros and Metroid are the only games I can think of that Nintendo delayed in the Wii life time. And I really think that Smash was delayed just to space it from Mario Galaxy. (I don't consider the Smash Bros at launch a release date they actually expected)

The Legend of Zelda is my all-time favorite franchise. With that said, I'd love to see Nintendo not release one for several more years. I think what the series needs is for them to not throw them at us every two or three years, giving us time to build a real hunger for a new one, and spend that time making it a guaranteed Game of the Year when it finally arrives. The games always score well and they get nominations of GotY, but games like Twilight Princess watch some 360 game swoop in and snatch up the award, and I'd like to see a new Zelda game sweep all the awards like Ocarina of Time once did.
Wow...I'm so let down
I don't even want to talk about it

Well Zelda won't be coming out at least until next year, I don't want a Zelda game that just continues the franchise and just adds a new boomerang or sword.
I think I heard Miyamoto state that they are working on a new Zelda and that it will be fresh, with new ideas. Also Pikmin 3!
yeah, miyamoto said a while ago that twilight princess would be the last "traditional" zelda game. what that means, we'll have to wait to find out. hope they can do a bit better than phantom hourglass though.
Big thanks to Ihsiin for the sig!
Smash Bros. Friend Code: 4768-7238-0108
Mario Kart Friend Code: 2578-3745-5774
Wii Console Number: 7428-2244-6935-6135
I hope he doesn't change too much from the "traditional" gameplay elements because unlike a lot of you I actually still enjoy very much how the games play. I hope they stay the same because I don't really think much needs to be really fixed. Why "fix" a system that really isn't broken? I know I'm the only one that think this though. lol.
You can't be serious about Phantom Hourglass? That game was top notch and my only "real" complaint would be that the game was a bit easier than I thought. They could've made some of the puzzles a little more difficult, but there were some puzzles I had to sit there and think about too. I don't know why you didn't enjoy it Zeep because I was astonished on how well the game played out on the DS with the touch controls. It was a blast.
Everyone I talk to about Zelda:PH did the exact same thing as me. They played through to a certain point and for some reason lost interest. I came back to it later and got super addicted to it and played it non stop for like 3 days till i beat it. All the good dungeons are at the back end of the game.
I agree that the Zelda games are fine as they are. The perfect Zelda for me right now would be something on the Wii with the same graphics as Wind Waker. Only for refined than that (they said they rushed it a little bit).
I hope they don't change the formula/gameplay too much.
