The tech demo doesnt even feature a Sony logo or PS3 logo anywhere to let people know that it was something planned from the start. THAT is PS3 Center's story. Maybe "desperate" is just too strong a word here.

David Cage's story, as told by 1UP's podcast, is that Heavy Rain would not exist today if it wasnt for the fact that Sony actually needed something to show at E3. If they didn't need Quantic Dream's tech demo, they would have had no one to show it off for them. If you all recall, early reports after the casting tech demo was that Quantic Dream was still in search of a publisher who many suspected, would be Atari again. After showing it and evaluating the praise and excitement toward the title, Sony nabbed it up and began funding for it with belief that it will indeed be something great. THAT is Cage's story.

Is everyone clear now or shall we just drop everything and move on?
Sony showed dozens of trailors at that E3. Pish i'm afraid. Maybe Phil Harrison wanted everything he could find because of ps3's pricetag but nowt more.

OG, I don't know how you do it but you always manage to start an argument and you can't seem to not be able to give a damn and get out of it. Instead, you just give it more fuel when people are against you and it becomes a snowball.

Just ignore that pointless crap and go back to discussing the game, and I'm telling this to everyone. Heavy Rain will be released in over a month, so I'm not too sure why the hell would anyone want to argue over the reason of its existence. I mean, what the fuck?

There's a special kind of nerd though, who thinks computers will overtake mankind in thirty years, changing humanity in ways incomprehensible to us now, ignoring the third of the world without electricity. It gives spiritual significance to technology developed primarily for entertainment and warfare and gives nerds something to obsess over that isn't the crushing vacuousness of their lives.

So... some days ago I "refinished" Fahrenheit (or Indigo Prophecy for the Yanks)... if it wasn't for the ending (when you enter the musem or the orphanage later) I'd still give this game a 8 out of 10. The graphics didn't hold up very well, as didn't the animation etc. But... at that is the jist of it, the controls still are interesting... the QTEs suck to a degree (I'd rather see them doing it like the "normal game", i.e. the sticks are your arms or legs and you are moving them... the QTEs try to do this to a degree, but not always).

After Fahrenheit, I guess Heavy Rain is a day one game for me, if I can afford it. My birthday is in April, so it could work out

I also am on spoiler alert... I won't watch any trailers for this game till I played it (the GC or E3 (dunno anymore) were spoilery enough).

Someone in this thread is probably getting Heavy Rain for their birthday.

I think what is fun about games like Indigo Prophecy is that it's also fun for someone sitting around watching you... like I've sat there and watched Noah play almost all of it on his laptop and it's just as enjoyable as playing it myself would be.

Yeah exactly. My little brother used to love just sitting around and watch me play - never wanted me to play without him. He's still pissed I beat it and he missed the ending.

Heavy Rain sounds a lot bigger than Indigo this time around with tons of branches on how this game could go. Just wonder if they'll literally have a tree branch for you so you'll get a chance to see all the possible outcomes you completed/havent completed.

I think that would be a little sad actually if I bought it and sent it to you and then for Noah's birthday, I gave him a picture of you and the game.

    ....Brilliant idea.

    Why do you think so?

It's not like Fahrenheit was an 18+ game either... (at least not in Germany, and it was the uncensored version)

Also... I didn't expect this game to be overly gory or somesuch (actually, I hoped this game wasn't just overly gory, rather just give it the "appearance"... Like Se7en... not gory in itself, but very good too :P)

i was wondering about the so called explicit scenes in the game. i'm not up with what 15 year olds are allowed to view in America, so i wondered if some of those scenes could be toned down

This isn't the US certification here... I am not sure how the BBFC works, but in Germany, even 12+ or 16+ movies can have boobs and stuff in them!! Games are not an exception here either. Fahrenheit had a 16+ rating in Germany (and Pegi), with virtual sideboob (shower scene) and virtual sex (full boob). As long as there's no FULL frontal nudity, a 16+ rating should be possible in Europe.

EDIT: I mean, as long as there are no drug scenes, nunchucks or shurikens in movies, the UK has a very good ratings system :P

Sex is good... as long as it isn't displayed in a moronic fashion (the "love" in Fahrenheit was crap^^ I mean, she didn't even "know" him until later in the game, and then suddenly she loves him (i.e. she SAYS she loves him). Earlier (say late 80s and early 90s), sex in game wasn't as much a problem as it is now... I mean, look at Leisure Suit Larry or Phantasmgoria (an explicit rape scene) which only got an M rating too...

Unless you live in the United States where sex is taboo, you got noting to worry about.

You don't eat pigs, we don't eat pigs,

So if you don't eat pigs and we don't eat pigs,
Why not not eat pigs together?

It's taboo but it's hypocritically and ironically taboo. It's plastered all over the damn place and pumped through our radios and ipods through our TVs and then people still bumble around with this dumb look on their face wondering what on earth happened to our children.
It's so taboo, that it's backfired. Instead of handling it like reasonable fucking people and being mature about it, it's backlashed on us.
