    Itagaki sues and leaves Tecmo

"Before the start of development on Dead or Alive 4, Tecmo Co. Ltd. had agreed to pay a completion bonus to me for this Xbox 360 title, which I produced. However, when the time came for the actual payment, Tecmo Co. Ltd. went against its previous agreement and refused payment. President Yoshimi Yasuda chose not only to violate this agreement, but also turned defiant, telling me 'if you are dissatisfied with the decision not to pay the bonuses, either quit the company or sue it.' In addition, he made demeaning remarks about me to my subordinates and colleagues, causing me significant emotional distress and worsening my personal relationships and work environment. Thus, I have no choice but to resign from Tecmo Co. Ltd.," the statement said.

Itagaki also addressed gamers directly in his statement, saying that he will never be able to make Dead or Alive 5.

"I truly feel sorry to all the fans of the games I have made. Ninja Gaiden II, which will launch on the 3rd of June, will be the last Ninja Gaiden I will create. I will also never be able to make Dead or Alive 5. I regret the circumstances that have forced me to leave Tecmo, where I had worked for so many years, and I regret the disappointment this will cause my fans," he said.
You heard it folks no more Ninja Gaiden or Dead or Alive 5!!! On a side note, to clear this up with Sony fanboys, NG2 will never ever, ever, ever, ever, ever come to the PS3 because it's published by Microsoft and MS paid for the game to be made and thus will never see the light of day on the PS3. I know a lot of people hate Itagaki because he's a shit talker and a B-hole and a sexual harassment dude person.

That's nice that you can speak about things that are completely out of your control.

In this industry especially, when you make statements like this, you often have it bite you in the ass. Whether it does or doesnt happen doesnt change the fact that you can't predict the future and Microsoft paying for the game doesnt mean you will never see NGII on PS3.

MS is publishing it which means they own the IP rights. He's correct, this will never appear on PS3.

I dunno, i think more games of those franchises will still come up, Itagaki just will never be apart of it anymore. Also the games may or may not be good without him there now.

Yup, same reason youll never see Perfect Dark on Live Arcade, Nintendo published that one.

Which is a shame really cause Perfect dark online would own any other FPS out right now

But that doesn't mean we won't see NG3 on PS3. The thing is there won't be another NG or DoA game and Itagaki was really upset about that. This is why Goldeneye won't come to Live Arcade like rumors suggest, or the old Banjo games because it's solely Nintendo property. It may just come to the Virtual Console though. Just because MS owns Rare doesn't mean those games are owned by MS.

I know how much you love your PlayStation (just as much as I do) but no it will NEVER come to the PS3 my Hellghastian friend. MS owns NG2 and it will always be that way. I'm a man of facts and if that statement weren't true I never would have said it (I actually researched it before opening my mouth) I don't leave my self vulnerable to +10 fanboy melee attacks

Like i said, neither of yall can predict the future (though Viper got damn close with that God of War:Chains of Olympus prediction on PSP) and as such, its not a fact but merely something that is highly unlikely.

Do i personally think NGII will be on PS3? No. But that doesnt change the fact that it COULD happen. Though, as i said, its highly unlikely.

Its likely that if a continuation of his games does happen, its story can only get better.

  11. Yasuda was like, 'well I was gonna give you your money, but your head's so far up your ass I didn't think you'd be able to count it anyway.'

There's a special kind of nerd though, who thinks computers will overtake mankind in thirty years, changing humanity in ways incomprehensible to us now, ignoring the third of the world without electricity. It gives spiritual significance to technology developed primarily for entertainment and warfare and gives nerds something to obsess over that isn't the crushing vacuousness of their lives.

It's as unlikely as Heavenly Sword going to X360 or Gears of War going to PS3.

The scenario is so unlikely by virtue of corporate IP ownership that it's well within realm of 'not gonna happen'. A grand piano could fall from an open cargo bay on a 747, kills a bald eagle in mid flight while getting hit by lightening, impacts your car and ignites the fuel which sets fire to the tree, then your house and burns everything except you because you just walked out of your house to go cash that winning lottery ticket.

    It's almost that unlikely.

Viper is right. The own the the game. That means they're not going to hand it over to the competition it's never happened before and it won't happen today, tomorrow, or yesterday. I gently caress this thread.

  14. pull yourself together dude, it aint gonna happen. for what possible reason would microsoft hand over rights to a great selling game to the competition? saying it "could" happen is like saying i could b0ne angelina jolie, while its technically possible and fun to think about its just a dream.

Regardless, its not a fact but merely an opinion. Which is what i was truly getting at. And haha at it selling "great". To date, it has only sold around 400k units, and the sales are dwindling.

And i agree to how unlikely it is, but once again, its not fact but an opinion. Its not a fact until the PS3 no longer has new games. And judging by the continuous support of the PS2 by Sony so far, that may be 10 years from now.

It's also possible to get bit by a shark while surfing in Wyoming.

It's so unlikely that it's not even worth considering. Unless we want to start claiming that a bunch of Sony published games are headed to X360 but that would just be loony.

Dont take it out of context. I could also point out some of the most unlikely things to happen in other realms as well. Like the idea that all four number 1 seeds would make the Final Four in the NCAA March Madness Tourney. Yet, it happened, as unlikely as it was (never EVER happened in the history of basketball).

Im not saying it will happen, and im not saying i THINK it has a remote chance it will happen, but its still an opinion. Not a fact. Nothing becomes factual until there is no possibility for it to be otherwise. Its a fact that the Wii is currently in the sales lead for worldwide consoles. Its an opinion that Wii will win this console generation in sales. Its a fact that Nintendo is the worldwide sales leader for handhelds. Its an opinion that Nintendo will "win" the current handheld generation in sales.

Both are very unlikely to reverse, especially the handheld sales lead, but its an opinion in the end.

I never thought i would see Sonic on a Nintendo platform. But it has definitely happened.

Point is that it's so far in the distance of possibility that it's not even valid to suggest it yet.

Can you point out an instance when a console maker owned the IP rights to a series and published it on a competing system?

Your examples are completely different stories. First is four #1 sports teams making it to the finals...not exactly incredibly unbelievable. The second is after Sega went into the hole, and decided only to publish titles, considering the options, them deciding to bring their most popular character to all then next-gen systems, that is also no more astounding.

But MS saying oh..."Well we'll let PS3 have Halo 3 as well because it's a possbility", or Sony saying "We're going to let Ratchet and Clank appear on the 360 because we can..."

You can't tell me these scenarios are at all practical or even really plausible can you? Ninja Gaiden is the same.

Well only NGII is staying on a MS console seeing as they were the one that published that game.

Future titles are up in the air though. There was no exclusive contract for the future games of the series for MS, but I am sure they will fight tooth and nail for it to stay exclusive for future titles.
