happy uk dayAlright, LittleBigSackboyFans! The year-and-a-half wait is almost over. No more delays; no more rumors. Via press release, we now have definitive word that LittleBigPlanet's release date is finally confirmed for the UK: October 24! And hey, that's just a few days before Japan gets the game on October 30.
No word yet on when North America would be able to get busy with those Kratos and Nariko Sackboys (and Sackgirls), but you can bet your "LittleBigConsoleMover" that it's bound to hit stores right about the same time that UK and Japan get it. Soon enough, we're sure to hear of the US release date too.
Anyways, to celebrate, we got a pre-launch trailer straight from Media Molecule:

A bit sooner for us! 21st in the US. Funny that we get SCEE's game earlier...LittleBigReleaseDates! We've received a press release stating that LittleBigPlanet will be released in the UK on October 24th. We're not sure whether the rest of Europe will be receiving it on the 29th or not, but the UK will definitely be able to get their hands on the game five days ahead of the date announced at Leipzig. If you want it before then, however, you'll need to be on the other side of the Atlantic. North Americans will be getting their LittleBigMits on the game three days before that, on the 21st. Not exactly simultaneous, but close enough. LittleBigPlanet is (finally!) almost out.

Looks like their doing LBP beta like the Home beta. There is a LBP theme in the Japan store and presumably will come to the others.

- Beta applications start on the 17th and run through the 23rd.
- Beta play starts on the 29th and runs through October 12th.
- 60k users will be picked (20k per region).
- Story mode and Create mode will be available for play.

In the LBP world, players will be able to network with others as they develop a persistent online persona. Players will be able to take pictures within the game, and those pictures will end up featured in the user's feed. "You'll have feeds of photos of you - levels that you've been in, photos people have taken of you," Alex Evans told GI.biz. "Then we take it even further, like Facebook. In any photos we know what kind of Sackboys were in it, who they were logged in as, so we put a box around their face which you can click and go and see that person. So if there's a cool level with a guy wearing an awesome costume, you just D-pad up to him and hit X, and now you can see his levels, his favorites."
This kind of interactivity should be familiar for the millions of users of Facebook. Perhaps the blokes at Media Molecule are attempting to do to videogames what Facebook did for the web -- considering the success of the latter, that bodes well for LBP.

The only thing that impresses me more than that is that we're supposedly getting Little Big Planet with all such features in only a month and a half...

Those really are worthwhile trophies for every LBP fan. Nice to see several PS3 games getting trophies that don't feel pointless at all.
