I'm hoping for full cockpit view but I guess the implementation will be depending on the amount of cars. It must be a real pita modeling cockpits for 500 cars. In addition to modeling the exterior in a painstake detail.

Anyway I've always played GT4 at the bonnet view, I can't get any immersion from staring the car's butt all the time So any cockpit view can only make the game more immersive.

EDIT: in the video they show full model of dashboard for 300SL so we can expect something very interesting

I don't think GT5 will have even near as much cars as that.

that and the handling is completely off from that view.
PS. even the sound FX change. you can hear the engine and other sounds as you would sitting inside a car. nice.

God, I expected no less, but Polyphony are going all out in the detail stakes.

Don't mean to crush dreams but you know the inside of the car has to be modelled too, regardless of if you can play form that angle or not.

I thought I was going to see Cockpit view driving but all I saw was a 3 second clip of someone modelling a steering wheel.

I won't celebrate yet by any means though I do expect it to make it into final (even if it's only for some cars), this is not a confirmation, far from it.

It's hugely doubtful that Polyphony would only model a cockpit view for some cars and not for others, that's just not Polyphony at all. This coming from Kazunori is confirmation enough for me.

Nope he didn't.
They just said that GT HD was a little tease to what to expect in GT 5 in terms of visuals, but GT5 will have more details in the backgrounds and full support of online play.

That pic is from a very old build, there aren't people or flags on the sides of the road. But anyway, the cockpit view is going to be amazing at 1080p and a decently sized HDTV, as we'd be able to see all the necessary details to make it totally playable.
