Im a fan but Ive already got my fill from IGN and discussed it to death with my friends here who are Star Craft fans themselves.
I love you, I hate you. Will you marry me? I just want to kill you.
I'm a bit nervous about it because if they are not making a Linux version (which they certainly are not) and the PC version uses DirectX 10, I'm not sure how I'm going to play it.

It's because no one posts in here.. I know there's a few PC fans on E-mpire for sure, like wounding, but there's just not enough of us, or none of us are entering here often because the other person isn't lol! What a situation hahahh.
But seriously, this is freaking SC2 man! SC FREAKING TWO! THIS IS LIKE THE BIGGEST THING SINCE CHEESE BREAD!
And it uses DX10? What t3h... it doesn't look like it needs to use it, I wish they'd just focus on DX9 and put all the effects into it. It doesn't look 'this game needs DX10 impressive.'
Anyways... soo... I like.. have a copy of Vista Ult on my HDD..... do I need to burn it to DVD to actually install it? It doesn't work with Daemon tools I don't think ahhaah lol :P
Wow.. I just installed Vista Ult on my comp.... it's pretty badass... it looks cool beyond my interpretation, and I'm all about flashiness lol! :P
Cyber Cafes all over New Zealand will rejoice! That's all they play, Counterstrike and Blizzard games.
PC Games are starting to not suck again, but I must resist the urge to blow a fortune building a big rig, I'll play this on my MacBook Pro. Apparently they've been working on this since Frozen Throne, 4 years. So getting this.
Early 2009 people are saying... Maybe not this MacBook Pro....
:O
I never thought of that! I remember when War3 came out, every cafe upgraded to be able to play it hahahhahah, that was so freaking wicked playing LAN War3 with buddies. I went once to play it only (I don't go to netcafs often.. like... once every... 2 years lol), and I whooped all my friends butts (mainly because they suck and I'm pretty seasoned but not super amazing or anything).
To explain how bad they were, I remember after the second game they got really pissed off and all of them yelling at me because I knew how to use 'grouping' (like ctrl 1, 2, 3 etc) to control groups more efficiently hahah, fun times :P
Starcraft II should be insane in a netcaf, I'll have to make my once every 2 year trip there hahahha. The only thing I won't look forward to is I would expect that at least early on there will be lots of nerdy asian kids... o well lol.
The screenshots don't really do this game justice. The video on the other hand is amazing. It's going to require a new computer to play.
Insert extremem fanboy quote here.
That is true, but the original Starcraft was released on Mac as well. The Windows version of Starcraft used DirectX with no option to change to OpenGL. I haven't played any Blizzard games since then, so I don't know if this trend has changed.
According to this, it will run on Windows XP as well as Vista. I have neither, but at least this means there's a higher chance for Wine compatibility.
Which is one of the things that i think really set them apart. They tend to go with overall art style rather then huge polly counts which makes their games visually appealing years down the road. I mean i could still pop in the original starcraft or Diablo II and just gloss over the visualls without even having a second though, even though they are horribly dated. WoW is the same way, the art style is so great that it doesnt mater the graphics suck.
^Defo, and in my opinion, a really great strategy for them. Because they know that's how they will maximise their profits. People will buy Starcraft 2 as long as it looks like a Starcraft 2, and more importantly, if it plays like a Starcraft 2. It's a really smart choice by them, I think they really, really know what they are doing, basically all the time.
Blizzard is by far my favourite PC dev. By very, very, very far.
