Pirates of the Caribbean : At the World's End

Is anyone else looking at this game and going: "Hmmm... I might buy that". Not because it's a Heavenly Sword or Uncharted, but because it's excellent filler until the big games come out.

Played the demo on 360 Marketplace, graphically it's absolutely excellent. It seems to be based on Unreal 3.0, there's a rain scene which looks like the Gears of War Downpour level just rearranged, same rain effects. Gameplay wise it's a kids game really, very basic combat, like God of War lite "Press the right button onscreen at the right time" kinda gameplay, but so damn purdy.

Veeeery tempted. Not sure I want to spend between now and Uncharted playing Spyro the Dragon 1 to 3.

From Gamers day I think, haven't seen these yet, so the PS3 version.

I haven't read into this game that much. I do have the second movie game on PS2 and it was pretty fun from what I played, didn't get all the way through it. I'm not to keen on movie-video games though. I feel like it just ruins the plot since you already know what will happen ya know?

  3. Man the demo was BOOOOOOOORING.

I was so bored I turned it off before the demo finished.
Combat is dull, camera is REALLY annoying and well, with those two things wrong, it's not that fun to play really.

    Are you getting desperate Apple?

  7. I'm actually surprise how good the graphics is [for a movie license game]. But aside from that, not really interested.

After seeing this I can't believe people were complaining about the animations in Uncharted, bunch of retards. Everything moves so slowly in the demonstration.

I've rented it, wouldn't buy it, I'm not that crazy.

It really, really sucks. Sucks more than the 360 version, which is an achievement.

The fighting system seems kinda broken. X X Square for slash slash kick, defeats nearly all the enemies, apart from bosses, which use a weird broken limit break kinda system. L2 appears on screen to do a special move, but you have to stop mid combo to do it which is really counter intuitive.

There's a part where you walk over a plank and balance with the sixaxis, seems a good idea right? Totally broken, you can toss the sixaxis in the air and it makes no difference.

The frame rate blows, not quite Gundam Target on Sight but close, half baked 360 ports off the starboard. ahh harrr!

Controls are badly laid out, you keep firing off your three shot gun by accident as L1 is action and R1 is fire.

Sooner naughty dog and Insomniac get their new games out the better, really. Haven't played Sonic through but I imagine Pirates is worse.

I've seen some reviews, saw some footage on TV and it's utter garbage. I pity the fools who buy the Pirates PSP pack. And we all should -rep you for making this thread

Just how many good movie tie-in games are there anyway?

hehe, warning people off bad games is even more useful than talking about great games. Imagine blowing 60 bucks on this.

As yer man Mark Cerny says you can learn as much from playing bad games as from playing great ones, more even.

Riddick is one good movie tie in.

Riddick is one good movie tie in.
It's also true that it's not based in any of the two movies. The reason why it was good is because it probably was designed to be a proper game on its own since the beginning, and the developers weren't bad ones either.

I think it looked quite good in the previews, I apologise for nothing you hear me? Nothing!!!

Here's another one for you, Alladin on Genesis. Great game, even from a Disney movie license.

Hmmm, agreed. I'm not saying there never were good ones, only that they're exceptions.
