I'd have been satisfied with a console version of SC III on...Gamecube. Since SCII sold so well on it...but you know, they only brought it to the PS2 for some reason...(sony=money)

Well... there is Soul Calibur Legends that is Wii exclusive...

    But that's a 3rd person adventure.

Well, SCII sold the most units on PS2, but then again, the userbase is 5x the size.

I doubt Sony would have shelled out for exclusivity though. It was probably PS2-only due to the System 256's hardware compatibility. Across all platforms, SCII didn't do as well as Namco predicted, so I assume they wouldn't want to waste time and resources on another multiplatform release.

Don't worry though, because you aren't missing much. SCII is the better game.

I always heard the GC version was the highest seller. From places like IGN and Gamespot. They also cite the reason of SCIII exclusivity to a deal with Sony though I can't say for sure...either way, I guess it just saved me money.

I get the feeling the reason the Gamecube version sold the most was because Link was in it.

Ironically, I also think that's why SC3 became the PS2 exclusive - the guest characters overshadowed the franchise.

^No the Gamecube version did sell well, for the first couple of months, then the PS2 version outsold it in the long run. The sales figures you are probably remembering are the first ones, when the game was new.

But as dementia said, the PS2's established userbase was much bigger. And SCII was the better game.

    QFT.

SCIII, while interseting in it's own right... falls well short of SCII. The battle system seemed more polished and a lot of unneccesary changes were made to characters movesets and apperiences.
