Missing 20 GB PS3

hey what's happenin. i was wondering if anyone has any information on the shortage of the 20gb model of the ps3. ive looked on popular websites like gamestop and eb games. but they only have the 60gb model. i've been to those stores also and they said that they don't carry them anymore.

are they not selling them anymore? i wanted one. i don't want all that extra stuff from the 60gb model. if someone knows where i can find a US 20gb model i would appreciate knowing.

I think Sony stopped manufacturing the 20GB SKU.

sony still makes them, but stores are phasing them out. which sucks because it's the sweet spot PS3, the extra stuff isn't all that necessary.

It's only going to get harder and harder to find 'em, to be honest. But if you don't mind saving up another 100 bucks, if all else fails get the 60gb one.

Obviously, the 60GB version is being damanded the most despite what many may think about the price or the extras packed into it.

Funny that despite price criticism, there's more demand for the more expensive configuration. I don't mean that a cheaper price wouldn't make it more popular though.

i wonder if they stopped making them for (correct me if i'm wrong) it's the unit they take the biggest loss on. by keeping the 60GB until the holiday season then drastically reducing its price/throwing in another SKU, i guess they could reduce losses until the holiday season and then throw in something like a 60GB for $400 and 100GB for $500.

if they kept the 20GB SKU it'd be the 20GB at $400, the 60GB at $500. the 20GB could return this holiday season at that price.

seems possible, hell if the PS3 was selling worldwide at the prices it's at in Japan i bet they'd be sold out.

Yeah, i just been to Eb a few hours ago just to go and tried out the Wii, real fun btw, and my sister liked it and was like how much is it and he said much cheaper than the PS3.

Then I asked if he had any and he said yes, tons of the 60GB model that has been sittin on shelves for awhile but NO 20GB models and was like, what was the point of a 20GB model if Sony isnt shipping them. He said microsft is still shipping the core 360's even though no one is buying them but not sony. I really dont think Sony wanted to do a 20GB model in the first place but was a last minute thing so it would be kind of availible to those looking to save...$100...The 20GB model doesnt seem to be in there focus and i think they might discontinue it. They didnt even ship it in Euorpe did they?

well consumer response has all but rejected the 20gb model (which is weird, but guess I get it, people don't do their research and think they're getting a gimp version) so sony reacted accordingly.
