Thread: PlayStation Card?

  1. PlayStation Card?

I saw this option in the PlayStation store, but how do we get one? Are PlayStation cards even out yet?

  2. #2
    They haven't been released yet..

Probably soon. Maybe when HOME is released?

^ E3 2006...i want PSN card..i hope they releas them before Home

There wouldn't be much use of them before Home.

I mean, sure there's some content to be bought from the PSN, but it wouldn't be put to as much use as it would be being used on HOME.

    There wouldnt be much use??

Europe, especially Germany is pretty much "credit card less" land... We usually use Cheque Cards (debit??), and I am as sure as hell not getting a credit card for the PSN alone (as I dont need one for other stuff at all).

I use my debit with PSN, in Germany is your debit cards backed by a credit company like Visa or what not (as they are here in the US)?? My bank card can be ran as credit or debit.

I'm not sure about the other countries in Europe, but most debit cards over here don't have Visa on them. The most common debit card over here is the "Maestro", which is also the one I have. Maestro is accepted on PSN, so I'm not too bothered about this card to be honest.

No, you pay extra for a Credit Card "enhancement" here (as a Student it is a mere 1€ per month, 12€ per year, but nontheless considerable).

The usual banks (Volksbank and Sparkasse) dont sport VISA stuff themselves. Only other banks (Daimler Chrysler Bank) does this, but again, it costs extra.

We'll see, there's some rumbling in the official german PS3 forum, if the PSN finally gets "uncensored" (theres no stuff above FSK 12 (something like T or even less^^)) and the usual ELV (Elektronisches Lastschrift Verfahren). All other bigger companys (even the 360 Marketplace afaik) use this, even WoW. And to top that, the Marketplace is mostly uncensored (Icon demo i.e. is rated FSK18).

Oh yea, and Solo, the second most common type of debit card, is also accepted. So that pretty much covers everybody with a debit card in this country.

I still see people with the Electron debit cards, but a lot of shops have stopped accepting those now, so I imagine they'll be phasing them out. Just a guess anyway.

I would have to agree with this, because I have a debit card, and I cut down on spending with debit cards online.

Theres no Maestro "support" in the German PSN, only AmEx, Visa and Mastercard!

Usually, german "cheque cards" do have Maestro (mine does too!)

i agree also. i want a psn card simply as a means to easily budget my online gaming. i had a bad experience whith xbl billing one of my cc without permission after i had already changed my billing info and i would rather not go through that again.

That's why I said I wasn't sure about other European countries. I only know that those cards work over here because I've gone through the account management menus on my PS3.

Hopefully they will start supporting it over there soon.
