Top Ten Best Possible Additions To "HOME"

10) Boxing - If you have a bad enough argument with someone challenge them to step into the ring.

9) Pay Per View Events - There are all sorts of cool PPV events from Wrestling, Boxing, and even Ultimate Fighting on television. In "HOME" you should be able to pay a fee and watch the PPV LIVE with your friends.

8) The Fair - Every so often the "fair" should come to town with rides, events, dare devils, etc.

7) Holiday Events - Virtual Santa Clauses should give out virtual gifts at Christmas, you should be able to go trick or treating on Halloween, able to give virtual roses on Valentines Day, etc.

6) Laser Tag - The name says enough. It should be very possible with the PS3 hardware and not too complicated.

5) Food - Virtual restaurants should exist. You should be able to buy virtual food or click on a link to do an instant search for real restaurants in your area in the real world. You should have to eat virtual food at least once every 24 hours of time spent in "Home." Otherwise, your character should start making funny stomach growling noises. However, if you eat too much or too often you would end up with gas and people would avoid you. (Sony could make money with advertising this way.)

4) Weather effects - It should not always be pretty and sunny. There should occasionally be bad weather where lighting is striking and the wind is blowing against the windows. For example, if a bad hurricane is about to strike a major city in real life they could have a day of hurricane like weather and have public service announcements saying, "Remember the people of so and so city in their time of need. In real life, bad weather has very serious consequences."

3) Vehicles - You should be able to purchase a vehicle, customize it, and drive it around.

2) Sony City - All apartments and starting areas should actually exist as part of this city. In this city there should be streets, parks, roads, rail road tracks, stop lights, tall buildings, etc.

1) FREE ROAMING - You should be able to FREE ROAM from one "starting area" and "apartment complex" to another. You should ALSO have the option to teleport from one area to another. But there should also be FREE ROAMING around Sony City.

Sony City could be where the fair is held once a month, where a virtual E3 like event takes place each year, where exclusive and massive concerts take place, and where you could roam around and meet potentially thousands of people.

Obviously, Sony City would be huge. But it would be broken down into smaller sections. Basically, there would be smaller subdivisions. Each smaller world would be free roaming, but you would need to teleport yourself or your vehicle from one part of Sony city to the other. Hopefully, it would not take more than 30 seconds of loading time.

Also, you could not have EVERYONE in the the same city. That would probably not be possible. Perhaps every geologic region could have their own specific Sony City.

For example, there could be different servers like in World of Warcraft.

In my opinion, this would make "HOME" perfect.

I'm honestly still reeling so much from today's announcements that I can't possibly dare to try and give Sony ideas

I was actually thinking about this earlier and want to see it added so badly. Plus I want them to add a live stream for their live keynotes like GDC and E3.

why not just plain tag.

the only thing that they did not mention anyware in the Keynote was...

when you and all your friends meet up than go off and join a game, DO YOU HAVE TO EXIT HOME THAN TRY AND FIND EACH OTHER IN THE RESPECTIVE SERVERS?

I really hate that idea.
It would be a bit pointless and there is no way I'm going to pay real money for virtual food.

Believe me they thought of all that already. It is just time that they need to have them all implemented.

i like the idea of a virtual santa cluase leaving you a virtual trophy for your virtual trophy room.

don't follow

I'm thinking the exact same thing, I'm just enjoying watching the show right now.

About this vehicle thing, I think 'HOME' is going to simply focus on walking around in these crazy places and talking it up (like 'Habbo' if anyone knows what that is), looking at your own media, customizing your 'house.'

Any other driving or flying or transporting would probably take place in minigames and such, that's my assertion. I'm thinking they want the too keep it simplistic (walk around, 'teleport' to other areas and whatever) because on top of the simplicity, I mean, anything can be added to this thing. They've really hit that one home, that devs can, on top of the simplistic interface, you can just add so much crap onto it, it really boggles the mind.

About this paying for gas and such, and weather. I think they want to focus on just having nice weather outside for a pleasing atmosphere, and paying for gas? I mean... I can't see that happening, I think that strays a bit too far from what they seem to be focusing on, simplicity. Simplicity also implies there is a lack of distractions from what the thing is actually focused on. It's not the Sims + GTA + minigames, to me it just looks like a place to play in, not think about consequences of actions, just talk and play and mess around.

I don't think so. in the Home commercial, they made it seem as after you agree on a game, you immediately jump in it. of course, you have to keep in mind that not all of your pals would have the game disk in their units before hand. in any case, this is something we'll find out later and is something they can fix if there's an issue.

of course. this is like suggesting you have to stop your car at a gas station and fill it up after a certain time of driving. the point of games is to be entertained and have a good time. stopping for gas, going to the bathroom, needing to sleep and other real-world musts is definitly not fun nor entertaining.

Laser tag sounds like a good idea.

The weather effects are cool.. but rather than have it reflect real life, Sony could just regulate it themselves. If certain activites were affected by the weather though, it could be annoying to have to "plan" Home trips based on in-game weather. Really annoying.

There are cell phone dealers stationed in various locations around the city. You take your character to the dealer and through him you're assigned a "cell phone number." You can give this number to whoever you want and if they have a "cell phone" they can store your number. Then from within the game you can use your virtual "cell phone" to call people anyone in the HOME system through your BT headset.

13. <3 that 'cell phone number' contacting idea

Already there. There's a boxing ring in the same area as the bowling. Watch the keynote again.
9) Pay Per View Events - There are all sorts of cool PPV events from Wrestling, Boxing, and even Ultimate Fighting on television. In "HOME" you should be able to pay a fee and watch the PPV LIVE with your friends.
Bad idea. It should be free, IMO. If anything, I'm more for something like buying a license to watch everything, like in real life, just cheaper.
8) The Fair - Every so often the "fair" should come to town with rides, events, dare devils, etc.
Good idea, and I think Sony will do something like this.
7) Holiday Events - Virtual Santa Clauses should give out virtual gifts at Christmas, you should be able to go trick or treating on Halloween, able to give virtual roses on Valentines Day, etc.
Will be done.

I don't think they'll do this, though it'd be cool. Too many people would make porn graffiti all over the place. Maybe in you own apartment.
Maybe not every 24h, but it could give some kind of energy boost to run faster or restore health you lost in while boxing, maybe. Not that you'd be able to die in home, but if your HP went low, you might move a little slower or something.
Agreed, but maybe just running on a randomizer, and adjusted to the season.
3) Vehicles - You should be able to purchase a vehicle, customize it, and drive it around.
Good idea, but it only works if your "Sony City" comes true.
2) Sony City - All apartments and starting areas should actually exist as part of this city. In this city there should be streets, parks, roads, rail road tracks, stop lights, tall buildings, etc.
It's a really good idea, but I don't think it'll happen. Sony says that the service will be global, so I somehow doubt this would be feasible. At least not the part about apartments, there'd be way too many. However, parks, streets, shops, cafés, etc is a very good idea, and entirely feasible.
Same as above.

As I've already said above, they claim that the service will be global.

I guess it depends on how well the developers choose to integrated Home into their games. It's technically possible.

15. I doubt the food thing will be implemented. Home is more about user content, not taking care of yourself like 'The Sims'. I like the other ideas though.

you will be able to purchase anything within HOME and have it delivered to your real HOME

19. Eh, I think you're kind of missing the point, milr. I know you're OOOBSESSED with recreating reality in virtual form, but that's not really what they're trying to do here at all. It's (to me) a lot more about creating an immersive hub for gamers to connect to each other like never before, with lifelike people as avatars, in a virtual space. You don't have to follow through bodily functions and junk. A lot of it seems kind of extraneous to be honest. I mean, did you see how deep it is already? Why you'd be so ready to tack onto that at this stage is really beyond me.

There isn't really a need to combine this with GTA (which seems like what you're trying to do), and make it it's own game. It is what it is, an extremely sophisticated chat hub that combines all the integrated entertainment mediums of ps3 into one zone.

There's a special kind of nerd though, who thinks computers will overtake mankind in thirty years, changing humanity in ways incomprehensible to us now, ignoring the third of the world without electricity. It gives spiritual significance to technology developed primarily for entertainment and warfare and gives nerds something to obsess over that isn't the crushing vacuousness of their lives.

MILR, you can find piece by simply walking out side, no I mean actually going out in the real world. you'll be amazed by how deep and precise everything is.

getting back to Home, knowing Sony, they won't force certain rules on devs and publishers and dictate what they have to do. by that, I imagine there would be an EA spot, a Ubi world a Square-Enix center, a Konami hall a Capcom resort a Sony WWS destination, a Namco-Bandai stadium, etc. that each will be unique and offer different experiences for its visitors.
