I agree Nameless...the vid definitely looks smoother, but the quality in them aren't enough to disappoint me either. There pretty much the same, and considering the game isn't complete yet, Naughty Dog is in a good position to not only match the trailer but surpass it with special effects and later levels....
Just read your above post...This thread should definitely have a clearer picture when the new scans come.

I'm gonna go with what exactly Nameless just posted up there. I stick to what I said, and I also think the final game will end up looking amazing anyways. It is 5 months old after all, no?

Whatever we argue about the old and new screenshots, let's just remember how much the latest PS3 games improved in the last few months before they were released, to the extent that screenshots and videos released 4 months before the final version appeared didn't make them justice. Wouldn't you expect the upcoming games to improve a lot? Mostly if they still don't have a release date.

And this, in fact, is Naughty Dog we're talking about. I mean, these guys are business, more business than most others. They are good. The final game will look great, that is certain.
*looks at Jak 1, looks at other early PS2 games* Drake's will be awesome visually. These new shots don't even look 'bad' by any means to me. They actually look quite stellar, comparitively to other games, I think this character model is one of the best, if not the best I've seen still. To me not as good as the trailer version, a bit less, but still, it's damn good looking to me.
And seriously guys, we all know that the devs that will be pushing the PS3's power, they haven't released their games yet. Other than Insomniac, what dev, that we can consider truly technically talented, has released a title on the PS3 yet? Konami? Nope. Level 5? Nope. Guerilla? Nope. Square? Certainly not. Naughty Dog? Obviously not. Polyphony? We've seen what next gen cars should look like from them. We are at the stage when the only gauge of the PS3's visual prowess is coming from crappy devs, or devs that are crappy or not A grade in my eyes.
P.S. I mean come on, the PS3 is in it's infancy and we've only really seen games from crappy devs, don't defend crappy visual titles (not this one). Look at this GT HD shot, just.. that's good stuff. That's a real Playstation developer, Polphony is a true PS3 dev, like ND.

That pic looks as good, if not better than the CG from GT4. Probably better. That's a real PS3 game developer. Ignore all these multiplatform farce engines, all these PC-esque, shader intensive, overtly shiny games with SC of last gen shaders with HDR on top. ND, Polyphony, Square, Insomniac, Level 5, Konami, these guys are your applesauce.
Anyways, to sum up, don't worry. ND will deliver in the visual department, it's 95% guaranteed with their record. Maybe to some of us it won't get exactly to that trailer, but we can all agree, like Nameless said, the final game will look damn hawt.

Good lord. We get one frame of animation, with different lighting (muzzle flash), different environ, different camera angles etc, a lot of which isn't very clear except the character model, but it looks damn good nonetheless... and naturally it's being compared with an entire trailer worth of footage. All these comparisons, extrapolations and conclusions about upgrade/downgrade are absolutely silly. This screenshot says very little about how it compares with the trailer, in either direction. That much should be obvious.
How many times have screenshots been taken out of their context compared to actual HD footage in motion? Every anticipated "next-gen" game seems to go through this same routine with the online forums (not singling E-mpire out or anything), yet the lesson never registers.

Yeah. But in general Naughty Dog are like Insomniac. Couldn't care what screenshots come out, whatever it is they make I'm buying it.

yes PS3 has LOTS of Crysis quality games... PC gets one 360 already had there's and Wii gets Cloud. PS3 ftw!
