The next issue of Famitsu is supposed to contain the first preview of Resident Evil 5 since the Sony Meeting in 2005. It is expected to have the first screenshots of the game.
Some hints from gamefront.de:
Capcom recently spoke with Famitsu Xbox 360 about Biohazard / Resident Evil 5's progress. They confirmed that development would take a little bit longer (as we already knew: see news post below).
Now the interesting part: They also said its possible that they'll show off Resident Evil 5 this year.
I hope they are correct.

PS: Don't expect anything startling graphic wise. Think of Lost Planet and DMC4 as benchmarks to keep your disappointments in check

Well I'd expect more seeing as it'll be getting a much bigger budget compared to DMC4 and LP, I just hope it looks as good as the treailer, I'm beginning to give up on next-gen graphics

I expect this in real time, Capcom has been making the best looking games. Lost Planet was just a test, by 2008 RE5 will look much better than LP.
Lost Planet budget was 40 million dollars, that's right 20m for advertisment
Expect PS3 version aswell, they wont make profit otherwise.

Why would you need to expect more from a game that is ESSENTIALLY using the same graphics engine called FRAMEWORK ENGINE utilized in both LostPlanet and DMC4. Why would you want to expect more now that you've learned what's in store for you in the coming weeks? By 2008 or so, it may be much more no doubt but next week? I don't think so. Atleast realistically I mean

Unless ofcourse, we have another MILR on our hands. khekhekhe. Oh, no offense to both individuals. Just that Framework Engine is what we're getting on RE5 and it is a multiplatform game. Not that it won't be artistically one of the most beautiful games ever, just that don't expect it to wipe the floor with Crysis or other top games out there.

And it certainly ain't gonna be the trailer graphics wise. Because, by now, 2 years after E3'05. Everyone n their mom(n their pet) knows not to trust trailers for in-game graphics. lol

Yes, that screenshot might be the closest we'll get to see how RE5 could turn out to be(next week). 2008 might be a different story.

I didn't really think RE4 was THAT good to be honest, I think Resi Remake on Gamecube is the definitive game in the series, it's almost perfect!

Wow, you have very high standards, Capcom wants RE5 to run at 60fps.
If it ends up looking like the pic i posted, i would be a happy.
RE4 lacked in claustrophobic atmosphere and puzzles, but it still one of the best RE games.
If Capcom has learned some of these mistakes with RE5, it should be perfect.

Well we can't really be talking in absolutes about a game that is yet to arrive in 2008. Not saying that you are, but I myself will refrain from judging an upcoming product by looking at its prequels. I mean RE franchise has seen so many changes in its years upto RE4 that we can write a full article on it alone and not a paragraph in here. I'm not just talking graphics here. Story, voice acting, gameplay, weapons, quick turns, controls, response times etc etc. I'm hairsplitting one thing into many good points I understand but let us wait for whatever is to arrive next week. It could be anything I mean. Hey, maybe it will be a step above anything we've seen from Capcom to date, who knows! Atleast we know it'll be up to par with their recent offerings and not any less.

You've been on Polyphony's ass in the other thread for not innovating with GT but only pursuing graphics. Yet you seem poised to see capcom deliver graphics that blow you away while refusing to admit how innovative RE4 was out of all the RE's combined, especially the RE-Remake still with primitive controls n all.

If it is a matter of opinion, I could understand but dude, otherwise you're just being annoying to randomly place your priorities over select titles out there. No hard feelings.

I'll wait and see though, but I'm a bit gutted that these next-gen systems aren't delivering on their tech-demos.

I just hope that the atmosphere of RE5 returns to the eerie-ness of RE2-CV. I liked RE4, but it didn't feel like a Resident Evil game.

RE Remake must have looked prettier because the backgrounds were prerendered. I thought RE4 looked great, and the environments were fully 3D and had a fully rotatable camera.

Jeez man, quit being a graphic whore lol and take a game for its worth. RE as you already know is a superb franchise in every sense. You and I both know when RE5 hits store shelves, we'll be one of the first in line.

Heck, RE0-Remake were the only reason I purchased a gamecube.

I think the problem is people having some built up imaginary image of what they think next gen graphics ought to look like to them, and then when the reality hits they get all bent out of shape. You're better off going in not expecting anything (good or bad) and just taking what comes out, and judging it respective to its contemporaries.

I like this multi-platform Engine that Capcom is using and they are respectable enough to modify it for each of their game.

I'm afraid this news has been debunked as Famitsu doesn't state anything about RE5 in the current issue, from what I've read on the net. All they're going to show in the next issue Capcom-related is Monster Hunter Portable 2 for PSP.

Man, if RE5 looks as good as that trailer hinted at, that looks frigging next gen. I think they'll pull it off even with their multiplat engine, I think it would suit the environments and game of RE5, unlike where I think the engine doesn't suit another game lol.

I will ***king blow Capcom up if it looks anything close to or less than Dead Rising. If it doesn't look way, way, WAY better than that, I will have to burn their HQ down, there won't be any turning back for me after that.
