Sony's PlayStation Network Information site has revealed the latest round of emulated PlayStation titles available for Japanese PSP users, including a number of notable cult action, strategy, and shooter titles.
The full list of PlayStation titles now available for purchase in the store include Irem's shooter R-Types, Capcom's Dino Crisis, Bandai Namco's puzzler Mr. Driller (apparently later dropped from the first round of titles), and first party military sim Global Force.
The update also includes the Japanese version of Nippon Ichi's cult strategy RPG Rhapsody, Hamster's convenience store management sim The Conveni (which saw its latest series release on the Xbox 360), and first party foot racer Toma Runner.
Finally, the update includes a pair of titles from arthouse developer Artdink, Migi Hidari U-SA, a puzzle game released by Natsume in America as Turnabout, and Taiyou no Shippo: Wild, Pure, Simple Life (pictured), the developer's minimalist caveman simulator released in the USA as Tail of the Sun.
The new titles come concurrently with a new PSP firmware update, version 3.03, which according to Sony adds no new features to the system, but continues to patch security holes present in earlier revisions.
As yet, no new information has been released by Sony regarding its second round of PlayStation titles to be released for US customers.

speaking of using digital distribution, PSP's new wave of support for these games may provide an interesting case study to see how download-only games stack up against retail games. the games are different and the prices are different, but the observation may hint to the potential effect of leaning even more towards a digital distribution only method.
of course, PS3 has this, but since it is in limited supply and limited content, PSP proves a much better candidate for this.
looking forward to what we will learn from this.
"With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion."
- Steven Weinberg
“If Jesus had been killed twenty years ago, Catholic school children would be wearing little electric chairs around their necks instead of crosses.”
- Lenny Bruce
When's the patch so that we can play them on PS3 Sony?
“Had the religion of Christianity been preserved according to the ordinances of the Founder, the state and commonwealth of Christendom would have been far more united and happy than they are. Nor can there be a greater proof of its decadence than the fact that the nearer people are to the Church, the head of their religion, the less religious are they.”
"By their Fruits, you will recognize them..."
Sarcasm:
Question 1: Why can't we downloadable the content directly to the PSP?
Sony's Response: If the PSP enthusiast could download the content from the Playstation Network withouth the need to of the PS3, they might not purchase the PS3. Once we have saturated the (videogame enthusiast) market we will allow you to download content through the Playstation Network without the need of the PS3.
The general public should be thankful for the opportunity to use the Playstation Network.
Question 2: Why can't we play the downloadable content on the PS3?
Sony's Response: If people could play these downloads on their PS3, they might not buy the PSP. Once we have saturated the (videogame enthusiast) market we will allow you to play our downloadable content on your PS3.
The general public should be thankful for the opportunity to use the Playstation Network.

Lol...

Very enthusiastic respsonses... Sony should let people decide what console they want to buy instead of forcing consumers to buy PS3 so they can play PSone games on their PSP. If I want a PS3, I certainly wouldn't get it to play PSone games so I think Sony are being stupid when they make responses like that and secondly, PS3 isn't out in Europe, so even if we wanted to buy a PS3 to play PSone games, we can't. So let us do it as we wish to, not as they want us to because right now, people are getting frustrated at Sony's poor money making schemes.
Gegenki, I see your point, but I hardly think its fair to make it a necessity for people to own a PS3 to utilise PSP for PSone games when the PS3 is not needed at all. Sure if there was no way the PSP could work at emulating PSone games without the PS3, fair enough, but because the PSP is more than capable of doing the whole process on its own, there's absolutly no other reason than for money that they are making PS3 a requirement for now. It just seems desperate to me..
