The component cables improve the visuals yes, but I have a 720p television and the Wii looks fantastic on it still. If you have a 720p TV, my advise is to not worry about the cables just yet and use that money to buy another Wii-mote, get a friend over and kick his/her ass in tennis. If you have a 1080p or i TV, the cables will improve the look by a lot.
Thoughts?
I might have to buy the cables this summer when I move back home, because I'll be playing on my 50 in. HDTV.
Lack of cables got you down?
Nope!

Found this if anyone is curious. Comparison of composite to component.
thanks, thats helpful... im probably gunna get me some, unfortunately, it doesnt seem like the demand for these is gunna slow down, so i might as well put my order in sometime soon...
btw, my parents have a 56'' Samsung DLP tv, thus i NEED component cables not just for the visuals, but to get rid of the latency issue... :|
Are the component cables available anywhere yet or just online through nintendo still? I'll be happy to wait for best buy or circuit city to get them in.
OnBake doesn't even have a Wii.
In both senses.

The component cable are easy to get a hold of. Just go to nintendo and order it. I payed 7 bucks for UPS blue and I got mine in 4 days from when I bought it. They have tracking so you know exactly when it will come in also.
On smaller TV i didnt really see a difference between the two. On my 52" Pioneer Elite plasma i noticed a pretty signifigant difference in picture quality. If you have a TV capable of 1:1 pixel mapping the component cables are well worth the cash, same goes if you have a 42" + screen. Smaller screens probably wont notice a whole lot of difference.
my $.02, which is apparently worth more now that copper is up....
I still wish I could just use my trusty GC cables.
Same. Well, trusty 64 cables :P
I think my GCN cables somehow got swapped with the 64 ones, just like how my SNES transformer somehow got swapped with the NES one.
Someone needs to make some kind of adapter for the Wii's plughole so you can use the old cables.
Kinda different to seeing it full-size though, and in motion too.Originally Posted by Sovereign
A 32 inch is prolly 720p, it will make a difference but not by much. 720p TVs don't rape the video like 1080p's do. Your fine. My advise is to buy an extra controller with your cable money for now. When the cables become more readily available, and your have plenty of controllers, you should buy it.
thanks. =)
Meanwhile... I don't think I could last a day without component cables, so I guess it kind of depends where your priorities lie.![]()
