Joystiq.com confirms that PS3 won't either, so yea....will it really matter?
You mean right away, right?

Online functionality means rather little to me. I've had my 360 since launch and I still haven't got around to even running a cable to it from the router, even though I already bought the cable a long time ago.
*shrug* I only play online now rarely on my DS and only play Xmen Legends 2 on my PS2 every once in a while. I lok forward to it, but since I won't be buying Wii until about then anyway, I'm not really out anything either.
fuck that friend codes shit...and yes I am mad that they will not have online at launch, but I'm gonna deal with it, cause I'm going to have to.
Resistance will surely have online so....leave PS3 out of this!!!
But yea, Nintendo will have online aswell. Just not right away. Just be patient.
For those who are still mad, you must consider a few things. Xbox Live started a YEAR after the Xbox. Even thge mighty Microsoft -- who has created the best online experince -- waited a year. And you expect Nintendo to jump into it? I am sure Nintendo will improve the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection with the Wii, it only makes since. Everything with the DS was a test, even the online part of the DS, for the Wii. Everything. And, as far as a I can see it, Nintendo has improved everything. The control's on the DS seem mere evolution -- meaning the touch screen doesn't radically change the gameplay (although it is a great feature, and makes up for no joystiq) but the Wii is a true Revolution. The control changes things, for better or for worse. The design has been sexy and conbtinues to be sexy, and even the marketing so far seems improved (IGN.com).So as far as I can see, I believe the Wii Online will be improved -- and that stuff takes time. They are focused on the launch, as well they should be. It was a smart move launching with One Million Wii's one day one, meaning Nintendo should have three million more after that ready to come (if Nintendo can do what they said).
And about the PS3 -- if developers don't have this online stuff yet, then I doubt online games will be this year. That game still might have online stuff -- it might be an update of some kind (like WiiConnect24). Or, maybe it doesn't. But, Sega could just not have the online stuff, and others do? WHo knows.
Resistance is online right from the launch date. So are several other launch titles.

*Scratches his head* Wha...? A lot of gaming sites have already played such games like Resistance on the Playstation Network during their preliminary reviews on the devkits. The final retail version of the PS3 has already been demoed with it's online functions. Sure it exists.
And uhh... this is what the article says
That makes two games... and this is confirmation that the PS3 won't be online at all...?Though Neversoft was tightlipped on why Tony Hawk Project 8 doesn't feature online play for PS3, one Finnish website is reporting that Sega producer Mie Kumagai said Sony has yet to deliver network specifications so his developers can make online mode possible. As a result, Sega's Virtua Tennis 3 for the PS3 will also launch sans online play.
Like I said... wha...?
And I am sure the Wii will have a great online service, just needs a bit of time I guess.
"Like the moon over the day, my genius and brawn are lost on these fools. ~haiku" Bowser, Super Mario RPGPSN ID= "Hrama". Add me!Do not feed your Wii chicken after midnight, nor get it wet. Doing so will cause a bad 80s plot to unveil itself, and a cuter, fuzzier Wii will have to kill it.
I'll buy the Wii and all of my friends will get controllers. OH SHIT I need online when we're all in front of the TV.
I want wii to eventually have support for clans etc. So say some FPS game comes to wii and has online play, I want clans etc..
I want Mario Kart Wii Online Double-Innovative Controller Edition.
I don't really care. I just don't see how they can make these things better than xbox live.
I think alot of people here free and like to claim xbox live features for free.
I think theses are going to be a much stream lined affair where you will have to pay for alot of the free extras that live gives you.
I've already heard rumors that they are going to charge 1$ per game demo download .(sony)
For nintendo ... as long as its not damn friend codes (or at least 1 friend code per system not game) i will be happy with what they offer as they have to come the furthest
You saying no one can make anything better than Xbox Live? If you are, don't make statements without logical proofing.Originally Posted by gljvd

Lets try the glass is half full approach: Nintendo has longer to tweak their online system (but Sony too ugh)..

Why's it matter if it's better than Xbox Live?
Me, I've never played on Xbox Live. Most likely never will. Mario Kart DS was my first online gaming experience (the games on MSN don't count), and it was great. Well, apart from where the game froze partway through, but that was just because my router sucked. So yeah, I've forgotten what my point was now... >.>
Joystiq has confirmed nothing........Sony confirmed PS3 will be online from day one and Ninty has confirmed to not be.
Regardless of that, I am waiting until Mario Galaxies comes out before I buy......
