after the let down of mgs 4 . this game is starting to look even better now that the cgi videos from e3 2005 have started to fade from out expectations
If those are new, what the heck happened to the anti-alising (I think I spelled that wrong...), it looks worse if anything. Could just be a result of picture size though.
The animations went down to tube mostly, I think they were presured (or felt presured) to show gameplay before they were ready. Graphics still seem mostly the same, but the videos we have seen are bad quality so who knows?

See the gamepaly trailer I posted in te general video game forums. You can see the huge downgrade in graphics compared to past trailers. Repeating textures and low polygon characters are quite apparent.Seriously, what's wrong with MGS4

Im not going to lie, this game is lookign awfully pretty... I'm going to have to rent this game and take it to my buddies who has a Xbox360 so i can play this. Hell, I think if he sees this himself, he'll own the damn game without having the need to rent it!!

Odd, it looked far smoother before, so did they just realize there is a problem? I have been hearing something along those lines though, now that you mention it. About MGS4 I really didn't see a downgrade in graphics (well possibly a slight one), just animations. Mark my words, it will look just like the trailers at launch.

why waste such EPIC graphics on a simple 3d shooter... the happy go lucky gameplay with static fireballs shooting from the dragon just kills the whole illusion... i can't understand why they do stuff like that
Yeah that's a good point, its one of the main reasons LAIR doesnt thrill or impress me, visually its superb. But it's not something I plan on buying or for the time being, plan on renting. But that's just me. I'll be busy with Sonic!!

Ya know, I have always liked the "depth" of the textures in Gears of War seems to be really excelling at like that stone wall in the first pic, freakin' gorgeous. That and the lighting, which may be a bit too unrealistically bright at some points, definitely has a very strong presence. As for the other things... The game has a great art design as well which helps it immensely. Then again, I mean, I feel this game has been worked on in a sense ever since Unreal Engine 3 ever began development. In those first realtime demos from a couple years back... same characters, level design, lighting etc. It's almost as if the engine was made specifically for this game... and Microsoft just happened to pick it up. Don't know if that makes a difference or not in polish though, but there is no denying it looks damned good.

All gears of war videos hae had no fsaa . Only press release shots have .
As for lair . The actual game play looks blah compared to the stills . The dragon may look very nice close up in cut scenes but in the actual game its very far away and just looks blah .
I would say that sony def has the better looking launch line up out of ms and sony. Also alot of sonys games look great compared to what have come before on the 360. However GOW simple blows away all shown on the 360 and the ps3 so far (in real time not cgi )
Even watching the 720p and 1080p videos of resistance it falls short of this title .
Please don't burn me to shit, but I do not like the overuse of HDR. I have never seen a piece of concrete shine so brightly or wall shine so brightly. Some of the screens seem to be taken by low res cameras as they don't look that impressive(except for the ones in daylight which look pretty).

This game is looking amazing. I was wondering about the AA as well when I looked at the images. Is it really that hard to make the unreal engine work well with AA, it would make the game look so much better.

The concrete shining is from muzzle flashes in the dark. They would sigh like that from far away with a flash of light that bright .
Yes some were taking with a camera . You can see the tv boarder at the bottom and side of some of them.

Unless Epic gets on the ball and manages to fix the AA, Gears or war will never look that good to me....

I just watched the GOW videos on IGN i its the BEST looking game so far together with HS. period.
The fact that its to the 360 should teach everyone that you CAN squeeze amazing graphics out of all coming systems... it's just gonna be up to the developers...
How can anyone of you be bitching about antialiasing in th ecreenshotswhen the gameplay in the video is fast, everyone and everything moves like if it was real, the lighting is stunning and the action is so fast that the only time you'd be able to enjoy any anti aliasing would be when you pause the game??
I said in another thread that this game looks much better in stills then in motion.Once i see this game animate/ along with its choppy framerate,the graphics get shot down a notch(or two). For the 360,il take one of those new rpg's or lost planets graphics over geow(i also actually think just cause looks fantastic also).
I never understood the hype of geow,its way to much like kill switch imo,i hardly ever see more then a handful of men on screen and the environments are just so linear.
Im sure GOW will be outstanding if you can deal with dropped frames and sub 30 fps. Cmon if madden cant muster a smooth frame rate what makes u think GOW can. Not trying to be a troll I just call it like I see it, and there have been very few 360 games wow me. GOW is not one of them. Then again it may just be that its another generic shooter.
