I actually got to check out FFXI today on PC. I must say, I want this game pretty bad now.

The thing is, in order to play FFXI on PS2, you have to pay the 100 bucks for the HDD and game, then you have to either already have the network adapter, or pay 40 bucks for it. The, if you want to get the most out of it, you have to buy the logitech keyboard made for the ps2. Could cost a lot of money if your not already prepared.

i know someone who plays it on PS2 and loves it. They spend hours everyday at it.

Yes, the PC port is pay-to-play. Pretty sure the PS2 version is as well.

Assuming you already have a PS2. You have 2 options.

    Seperately.

    FF game - $50.00
    HD - $100.00
    Network adapter - $40.00
Monthly fee - $14.00 per month.

Total - $204.00 up front + $14.00 per month after.

    Value set.

    Game + HD - $100.00
    Network adapter - $40.00
    Monthly fee - $14.00

Total - $154.00 up front + $14.00 per month after.

And people complained about having to buy a $70.00 - $100.00 GBA for CC. Odd that there are more GBAs sold than GCs so a majority already have a GBA. How many PS2 owners have the HD and network adapter already?

Well, considering the fact that the HDD isnt even out to buy here yet, I doubt many people have it. And I sure dont have a Network Adapter. I would absolutely love to be able to jump on board this game, but I dont have the money right now. See, my funds would be on a higher level than that even. I would have to get some form of wireless connection to the internet, and I would want the keyboard as well. Thats at least another 100 bucks.

That is just way too much for a single game, you just bought a new console for that much.

Yeah, which is why I prolly wont buy it. I would much rather just get it for PC. I saw it in action on PC, by the way, and it looks amazing.
