http://wii.ign.com/articles/728/728041p1.htmlGamers hoping for an online component, however, are in for bad news, because one isn't planned. Activision would not say why, but IGN has separately learned from multiple development sources that Nintendo will not release Wii Wi-Fi Connection libraries to third parties until early 2007, which means that no third party launch title will have an online mode.
Man, I hope Red Steel will be Online.
So you want Red Steel to be delayed until early 07?
To have a Online mode yes.Originally Posted by Freeman_JI

Seriously, Nintendo. Stop douching around and release full services when your system comes out.
An #$%#$%ing year for WiFi on DS? Have everything all set and ready and feature full!!!!
Even if they have 1st party online at launch.... why can't they let 3rd party developers implement it as well.
Nintendo annoys me sometimes cause they know they can pull crap like this and people will still flock anyway.
Eh... Doesn't affect me at all. If it wasn't for the activision news early, I would have forgoten the Wii had online altogether.
Maybe since Red Steel is pretty much the flag-ship title for Nintendo's third-party games, that they'll be lucky and allow Ubisoft to have it in RS.
Otherwise, here's hoping for multi-player updates through WiiConnect24.
Stale.
hmm... so the wii will have to be just mii until next year.....C'mon ninty! Wii needs to live up to it's name.

Damnit...oh well I can wait.
The Wii has onboard memory right? can't we have red steel now and DL a "patch" multiplayer addon latter?
(this is the only Wii game me and my bro want at the mo)
This is exactly what I mean.....*slumps in dissapproval*
I second this.Originally Posted by Shadow19

Then again....
....I think this works, too.Originally Posted by Freeman_JI
Red Steel has split screen multiplayer. no online because Nintendo havent given details.
i'd guess that the reason they havent given anything to 3rd party devs is that they are trying to make sure that the online component works. its no use saying to devs oh we have online capabilities but you're going to have to figure it out for yourselves. but then again that wouldnt totally make sense as they've already done online with the DS and so shouldnt be hard to set up Wii online. unless they are making Wii online different to DS.
and yes the online multiplayer may still be downloaded later. its no big loss for the early games unless the devs dont want to take that road.
This is quiet saddening.

It doesn't hurt my interest in Wii any. I've had my 360 since it launched and I haven't even got around to running a cable to it, yet, so it's never been online to date. (I keep meaning to get around to it, though. I think I even bought a really long cable for it some months back.) The online functionality of Wii hasn't even crossed my mind so far.

HELLO! People... IGN is saying this...
I have hope.

Have everyone forgot about the Connect24 service? If people really want it Ubi can release an online multiplayer mode for the game later... just like Retro is planning to do with Metroid Prime's multiplayer mode.
Well, it doesn't bother me at all to be honest. I'm happy enough to go online on my PS3 until Nintendo get it together. There'll be plenty of great games to play anyway, so it's all good.![]()
I think everyone who's bitching has forgoten about WiiConnect24.
Downloadable content sent directly to you. They'll probably have a patch for online in no-time.
