Damn it, this game seems to be perpetually 'coming soon' but not in a bad way... Its like we've been waiting for so long that its just this perfect thing thatll never happen. Its gonna be amazing when its finally done though.

Sweet, like GoG said, everyone has been thinking about playing Zelda like this since the Wii was announced. I just honestly didn't expect them to do this until the second incarnation on the Wii, since this was a Gamecube project only for so long.
the length of wait depends on who you ask.
for some it was when they finished majora's mask or even OoT.
others were waiting since spaceworld 2000
then there are the true Zelda faithful who enjoyed Windwaker and eagerly awaited another Zelda.
then again we could really only be waiting for this since we first saw it which was E2004... right?

Yay, this is great news - a lot of people where dissapointed when they realised the sword fighting was button controlled including myself. This made my day, lol.
I'm willing to bet it'll be something like old Red Steel where it's mapped, You perform vertical and horizontal sword slashes and jabs just as you would in Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask and The Wind Waker, but with gestures from the Wiimote. Also it ties very well in with the Spin Attack, you could also have relfexing moves like the "tap A now" type attacks in The Wind Waker...Originally Posted by Gookanheimer

And nobody suggest switching the wiimote to the other hand. After 15 years of controling directions with the left and pushing buttons with the right, there's no way I can change.
Well would it matter? Since the Wii version of TP has no real difference other than 16:9 and Wiimote functionality there isn't going to be a huge difference with the way the sword slashes will be implemented. It would be the way I suggested in my post above yours. It wouldn't actually matter which hand you used because the gameplay element doesn't need to take that into account. Swing vertically, you get vertical slashes, swing horizontally and you get horizontal slashes. There isn't any need for 1:1 precision so no need to worry about which hand you're using.
It's possible that it could be programmed to ask which hand is preferred and for rightys, he swings with his right. It wouldn't be difficult to implement at all.
This is good, really good. Honestly, I don't mind it even being on pre-set paths.

Great news! I have renewed faith in this game.
I'm still worried about camera control with the Wii version, I really liked being able to control the camera in The Wind Waker... but either way, I will be buying both the GCN version and the Wii version anywayz lol.
The free camera in WW was good, but there's still nothing really wrong with just using Z-targeting to centre the camera behind Link.
Yes, despite not having played Zelda on a 64 for many years, I still call it Z-targeting :P
i just wanted to point out that in the artwork on ign's wii page, link has the sword in his right hand. I don't know if it's because they just flipped the image but, that's what I saw...I know that he had it in his left in past games.
No, all the screenshots and stuff have him with the sword in his left hand. Link has always been a lefty, and thats how it should remain.
