I don't know if this has been posted before, but the classic controller:



... is in fact a SHELL that will use the full motion sensing of the Wii-mote.

Another important aspect to note, however, is the lack of weight in the controller. Since the main bulk of the technology is held within the Wii-mote, the actual shell is a bit on the light side. It does offer a clip on the backside, however, which we assume is used to put the Wii-mote into, which will add a good deal of needed weight to the combo. Aside from the obvious use of Wii technology to power and relay information from the Virtual Console Controller to the Wii itself, we can't help but wonder what types of games could be made using the hybrid design of a classic controller mixed with full motion control.

Because it is really hard to switch over an entire site (in this case Revolution) to a new name because every link would have to be changed, which is why IGN didn't want to launch a Rev site without the official name because it's such a long process. Although the Revolution title and the Revolution game search isn't very hard to change, they should've done that before.

That's good, if their assumtion is right. The classic controller is to be used with two hands, so it would be pretty lame having the freehand controller laying around in your lap.

it's not a shell just because it plugs into the controller. the whole reason it's called a "shell" is because we thought the controller would be insterted into it.

Did anyone who went to E3 play with the classic controller?
I didn't.. but just from looking at it, where would it plug into as a shell? It seems like it'd be really awkward looking & feeling.
I didn't play it, though, so I have no real idea.

Durh, I read it and about the clip, but it still looks like it'd be funny looking since the dimensions of the remote and controller don't really match (it seems like the remote would be sticking vertically out.. that's goofy!).

Plus that's a "we assume". Not a "we actually know".
