LOL, well it's been posted beofre in other threads, but still it deserves it's own. Too many 'sub' topics to keep focused discussion all locked up!

I will say this: thus far what's been demonstrated by PS3 vs 360 indicates a system that if not graphically, will have a significant edge at least in the realm of physics.
Respect to all those who debate their positions using facts and reason rather than rumor and passion.

  4. Sorry for the re-post.

and that is exactly what I have been screaming for months!

I always say that the most anticipated thing for me next gen (which many are not realising until they witness it) are both the FX level and, more importantly, the physics.

amen... the far superior physics in the PS2 over the Xbox is why i whent the way of the "less powerfull" console. as i have always sayed graphics wows you for the first 20 mins after that its all about gameplay...

and what is gameplay fueled by?

how well dose that gaming enviorment interact with you!

no one plays GT for months on end cause its pritty yeay physics

    quoted for truth

even David (GoW creator) said that graphics are good for the intital 'wow', then gamers soon forget it. of course, i don't think things are that extreme as I do stop and gawk in some of the best games visually like SotC, GoW and MGS.
but the general point still stands.

  10. Don't pick your brain apart over it.
Overall it's great, and isn't even a fully completed game.
Not to generalize and not scrutinize, but it's best to look at the big picture, the whole is greater than the sum of its parts, then it's a winner to me.

There's a special kind of nerd though, who thinks computers will overtake mankind in thirty years, changing humanity in ways incomprehensible to us now, ignoring the third of the world without electricity. It gives spiritual significance to technology developed primarily for entertainment and warfare and gives nerds something to obsess over that isn't the crushing vacuousness of their lives.

  11. It's basic human nature. We judge everything with our eyes first (food, objects, people, places) and then if it's pleasing to the eye somehow, we investigate further. It's a survival mechanism first and foremost. We just apply that instinct to everything else because, survival isn't an issue for us anymore. Well, no one who has time to worry about video games :P

And from there we judge how it feels/smells/tastes/sounds.
One example was this game on PSone called Rascal, don't know if anyone remembers it. The graphics were nice for psone, but the controls/camera were terrible. I remember renting it as a kid, and being like, 'man this game...it's not fun, I want my 5 dollars back." Oh well.

Hey, I remember that one, I think! When it was first announced, some said: "It's PS1's Mario 64!"

I think I even got to play a demo. And I think it was mediocre.

    Wasn't it a Psygnosis game?

Yeah it was. same guys who made this one really awesome space shooter, the name of which escapes me. But man the camera on that game was aweful. Mario 64? Not even close.

I recall Rascal. It was touted as being Hi-Res. Of course Hi Res back then meant 640 x 480.
