Sony Computer Entertainment America announced today that forthcoming PSP title Daxter will arrive in retailers a week early, with a new release date of March 14, 2006.

The game stars the obnoxious little rodent from Naughty Dog's popular Jak and Daxter series, only this time the usual hero Jak has taken a back seat as Daxter prepares to let everyone know that he's no longer a sidekick.

An action/adventure title with a slew of different gameplay features, including an Ad Hoc multiplayer mini-game. Players who own Jak X: Combat Racing on the PS2 can also make use of a unique connectivity feature between the console title and the portable Daxter. Doing so will unlock various new characters, costumes, and vehicles in both titles.

Daxter for the PSP is rated "E-10+" for Everyone ages 10 or older.

Daxter is one of my favorite smartasses! it is about time he got in the spot light for once. lol

the game also looks to be one of the graphical showcases. I hope it plays as well as it looks.

Man, after looking through the official site, I really feel like getting this instead of Syphon Filter, I might just have to break the bank and get both! It's shame it's not too difficult, the difficulty in Jak 2 (and parts of 3) was welcomed. I wonder how long the single player campaign is, prolly around 7-9 hours like Jak 2/3 I expect.

Just picked the game up, haven't started playing yet, but the firmware upgrade is 2.60
Will more than likely post a review on Monday.

Yeah, the game does look good. I just picked up Syphon Filter but am hesitant to upgrade to 2.60.

I might give it a go anyway...patience running thin.
