Good Games....besides Zelda..

Alright...
I needa go get a new Gamecube game for CHRISTMAS break.. (thats right I said it) and I want to know which ones are the best in each genre?

I wish Nintendo Gamecube had a good...sappy...funny...romancy RPG..... tsk tsk.

Please don't include Zelda or Mario.

I realize i'm double posting..but I can't edit cause this computer sucks (my sisters).

I've also been in a nostalgia type mood. I want games that were just...snes or nes-esque. So...maybe some good GBA games I could throw on my player?

Tales of Symphonia is a good investment. Fire Emblem is a good game if you are into strategy RPGs.

Metroid Prime is still the gold standard for the GCN. RE4 is another fine choice, as well. Eternal Darkness is also good for a run-around if you're looking for something weird.

I have a mixture of all games. I'm a SNES guy...so they dont reflect enough of me and myself as a gamer.

I have Phantasy Star Online 1 and 2, Mario Sunshine. Mario Baseball, Mario Party 5 and 7, Super Monkey Ball 2, Metroid (although, its in VA), FZERO, SpiderMan (again in VA and I'll prolly never get my VA games back), GBA Player, DDR Mario Mix, Windwaker,

I know theres another one there somewhere..but im not home until tomorrow...

I have a shitty selection of games...

Agreed. I also just finished Killer7. That was great, I thought. And I think it's discounted now too. Maybe $19? Although that isn't really SNES or NES like.

Paper Mario? It's not really difficult though, no real challenge to it, but it is fun. Good for a mario RPG.

Although I would go with Tales of Symphonia.

^That game is about as UN-NES/SNES-like as possible. But if you want a really "artistic" game with a lot of deep meaning and political metaphors, Killer7 would be the way to go.

Oh, and I realize you said omit Mario games, but Paper Mario: Thousand Year Door was a great comical, fun RPG.

Baiten Kaitos (or however its spelled) I know nothing about.
Killer 7 doth look beautiful...which I like.
Mario RPG was pretty simple... and that was fun...I'm thinking about Paper Mario 2..
Tales Of Symphonia is cheap and everyone is recommending it...so I'll prolly get that too no matter what.

Any others to throw in the mix? Well, Besides RE:4 which i plan on sometime n e ways..
