Sony's Emotion Engine was the cornerstone of their marketing at one time. Now it's the cornerstone of a lawsuit.
When the PlayStation 2 was released much of the hype was based around Sony's new technology, which they called the Emotion Engine. That same Emotion Engine is now the cause for some concern.
It has been reported today that the University of Wisconsin has filed a lawsuit against Sony and Toshiba. The Lawsuit claims that the University of Wisconsin patented something called miniature-fabrication in 1986. According to the University, Sony's Emotion Engine violates that patent.
The University is suing for damages and is attempting to bar Sony and Toshiba from using the technology in the future. No word on how much money in damages the University is asking for.

Fuck that...
Toshiba will stomp on their asses...
STOMP I SAY
Hopefully it will be a huge sum of money; very, very huge.
It took them this long to figure they could sue?
I guess they want a big payoff in the courts.
May Peace Be With You
University of Wisconsin suing Sony. That just sounds weird...

What damages? I'd love to know how Sony has hurt the UW.
Sounds like a submarine patent.... Is there an article with the specifics of the patent in question?
What did they do? Just wait ubtil somy had sold alot of them so that they could go for the big bucks. They could have done something right away!!!
I do hope that they sue for big money. I doubt that whatever they sue for will help the university but not hurt sony all that much.
Proud 1993 JDM WRX owner!
No, it won't hurt them much at all. It's not like they'll stop making consoles or anything, so don't get your hopes up.
HahahahahahahFrance surrendershahahahahhaha
