Thread: Has Anyone Noticed?

  1. Has Anyone Noticed?

Consider this: Roughly six months after E3 in May of this year, Microsoft has had a full-featured website devoted to and only to the Xbox 360. Everything they talk about has something to do with it and there's so much hype around that stupid PC it's sickening.

Now consider this: We are -despite recent news about PS3 being released by this time next year here in North America- about 5-7 months away from the originally (from E3) proposed launch period of PS3, and, quite frankly,we. have. nothing.

Nothing- meaning no official site on the Playstation part of Sony.com, not even news about it for god sakes! No actual big important news (you know, the kind we can usually rub in the 360 fanboy's faces). It's like Sony isn't even connected to this console (other than the name).

Now, I'm not saying Sony needs to get out there and create all this hype about PS3 and stuff, and I'm not comparing it to Microsoft in that they are (hopefully) around 6 to 7 months away from the launch (hopefully) in the US and Japan- or worldwide, but whatever- and there still isn't much Sony has done that much to oficially say to the general, non-tech savvy public that they have a new console on the market.

So unless theyre making changes.....BIG changes- to eiither the outside, inside, periphs, or what have you- then I don't see why Sony dosn't even have a measley site up and running....Unless the launch period is much further than originally estimated and proposed for them to have a clear picture of what the console will look like, its specs, and what else it has to offer to build a site and kind of adveritse it more.

  2. ok.

    Be Patient there OzzysCross101,

Trust me in this. Once the xbox 360 has been released the news will still be flowing very slowly until next year. Then around Mid January to whenever PS3 is released we will get our much needed dose of information.

  4. Why would you go to the official x360 website?

Sony just wants to continue pushing the strong PSP and PS2, especially with how much money those slim PS2's are making Sony :P

Its not even time for the next generation to start yet. I'd rather hear some stuff for PSP or PS2 than PS3 at this moment.

Sony probably just wants to get as much money as possible from the PS2 and PSP. We'll most likely see a big push with the PS3 early next year.

Agreed. SCE has too much riding profit-wise this winter on PSP and PS2 to be competing against themselves with a product that won't even launch until next year. After this shopping season, they'll start ratcheting up the PS3 talk.

By the way, welcome to the forum MaceSin.

Actually big 360 info did not start being revealed untill about oct. at X05 with the site launching like last week. We still have 6 mounths until launch. Sony will have the PSMeeting in feb. and that will be a lot like X05 for the PS3 only leaps and bounds better.

So the point is, it will come people will by it, and Sony will win. Great things take time, and practice and patince make perfection.

We, or should I say the consumer market, has the PS2 and the PSP. If it is anyone that doesn't have anything, I believe it's Microsoft, which is a pretty good reason you see more news from them about their next console.

Well isent the Ps3 being released in Japan here in marts. But offcourse i dont know if they startet hyping over there

the Spring release (around March/April) is unspecified. it could very well be for N America, or Japan, or even both. untill something is official leave the release date with no region.

and really, even if Sony doesn't hype PS3, it will still sell like crazy just for the brand recognition alone. and yes, come Feb. Ninty and MS will have a heart stroke

I disagree with you. With Microsoft, pushing all those marketing, and resources to Xbox 360, and yet, it's getting less recognition than PS3, which had gone underground ever since E3. Although Sony doesn't even attemp to market PS3, PS3 is still pretty popular. Almost everybody know about PS3. People everywhere are talking about PS3.
    Insert extremem fanboy quote here.

  14. There are a whole bunch of ppl where I live that are clueless about the Ps3 (I am trying to change that ^.^) There has been NO advertising, all the gamestores around here laugh and ask "why would you get the ps3, 360's coming out soon?" It's sad, if ppl didn't have the internet in my area NOBODY would know the PS3 existed, ask Danji, this area sucks.... Ken looks so happy ^.^!!!!!

And I disagree with you. Of course people that have some knowledge of gaming know that there is going to be a PS3 coming out. But there is no way the 360 is recieving less recognition. Have you been into any electronic stores lately or browsing the web? Even non game related websites are full of 360 ads. People everywhere know about it, even my parents found out about by watching tv and browsing the internet.

  17. hmm......

Yes.... yes of youres. I guess it's just the fact that we're less than a month away from the 360 launch and just so many people I know who won't shut up about it. Also, listening to them putting Sony down for everything they do related to Playstation, that I'ts like to just see that there's nothing Sony is really putting out there, it's like you could just freak out over it.

Yes, I didn't even give thought to the fact that Sony still wants to get money out of the PS2 and PSP. Which is a big mistake M$ made. Telling people the release date of the 360 wayy before the actual day lost them a pretty penny. But Microsoft is one big mistake anyway so it all makes sense.

After reading some posts here, now I have a good feeling that Sony will get started on the advertising train probably right after the new year and and then everyone will say "What Xbox 360?"

......ok, maybe not. But a guy can hope can't he?

All I know is that come that time i can start rubbing all the PS3 superiorities in my pro-M$ friends faces.... :splitspin

  18. well sony is scareing me also.
they are showing the same old trailers from e3.
even at the TGS the only one they showed was MGS4 & devil may cry 4.
the rest was old trailers. i think sony got caught with there gurad down.
i really hope they tell us some new info, soon,

  19. To me the PS3 is still this near mythical machine with almost limitless power, not only that but with Blu Ray i just know that extra space is gonna mean way better textures, more miles of road, more room for AI routines...the 360 seems like a high end PC cum console, and DVD , fu** San Andreas filled those .....and MS compression can only be SO good ..................

Wonder why the GTA inspired Saints Row is only as big as Vice* ??, yup no room for those bits and bytes...................
