Ok here it is a week later from when we first saw the revolution controller, and my question to you is has it really clicked in your mind the possibilities.
This morning got up clicked on the television only to see them advertising TGS show on G4tv then I hopped online to check my mailbox and what did I see all the new webpages about the revolutionary controller. "By the way it really is catching on".
So then I thought to myself "What would it actually be like to play a game with this new contoller." Can you actually imagine yourself playing a game like Lord of the Rings where there are hundreds of Ai characters charging specifically at you. All the overtime you will actually be putting in on the battlefield. Whether your using your sword to knock off the many characters attacking you or whether your at War with both guns blazing pointing your controller towards the floor to reload your weapons.
Now that was just one thing I thought of now lets move on to something a little different. Your sitting there playing a game of Soul Calibur swinging your controller in the air as if its Ivy's wip or using it as Mitsurugi's Sword the many different possiblilities.
Now on something completly different from any of the earlier statements. WHat about playing a game such as harvest moon. Yes many people said it would be difficult to play roleplaying games with this controller but I thought about it and its relatively easy. Imagine yourself in the world of Harvest Moon where there are numerous things to do you can use the contoller to dig and till soil, as you seen earlier go fishing hand items to different charaters water your plants shave your sheep milk your cows pick up your chickens hatched eggs lay hay I mean seriously I can go on forever.
Now with all of that said What I would like to do is try to think of new game ideas. You know what I mean create new genres and then we'll submit some of the best ideas to major gaming companies.
All the games that they say might be hard to play with the Rev controller may be playable using the shell. So that shuts up a lot of nay-sayers with that.
Or how about this, create your own finishing move in Mortal Kombat
Hey now that I think about it I love the Harvest Moon series, that being the case I really want Marvelous Interactive to release a HM game on the Revolution. Even if your not a fan, imagine slicing with the sickle or swiping with the hoe... man you could even water your crops with the controller!!!![]()
I love you, I hate you. Will you marry me? I just want to kill you.
Huh...what new controller?
I just want my Smash Brothers Revolution. Even if I have to learn how to twirl that remote with one hand.
here's a quote (posted about 6 days ago) from the 'What existing Nintendo franchise do you want to see on the Rev.?' thread.
not saying you didnt come up with the ideas yourself. just that i had the idea almost a week ago. hate it when someone says almost the same thing as me yet they get the responses even though i said it first.Originally Posted by Generosity of God
anyways answer to the thread title for me is yes. well mostly yes. it clicked a couple days after it was revealed. but i am still unable to think of all the possibilities. just all of the obvious possibilities and some of the less obvious ones (maybe).
so what games (or genres) would be enhanced by using the rev features?
FPS
fishing simulators
RTS
Baseball
Tennis
Golf
Boxing (Punch Out comeback please)
Harvest moon
i dont have time at the moment to think of more so add to the list if you wish.
Do you honestly think for one second that a major game developer/company will listen to forum posters? Be realistic here. You're being oblivious to the fact that these companys make games for a living and they know what they are doing and will deffinatly take full advantage of the new controller. it would be stupid not to anyways. With video games evolving like they are now, graphics and gameplay will become dull and boring. Which is why Nintendo took this step to bring an original, unique, and fresh way to play them. If developers dont take advantage of this then their games arent getting better, they will actually get worse.Originally Posted by Solstice
Fatalities and combos in Mortal Kombat.
Swing left while tilting at a 45 degree angle to the right, forward 3 meters per second, etc... ok bad idea.
I think RPGS will move towards adventure type games such as Full Throttle, Monkey Island, Kings Quest, Roger Wilco, Myst, etc which are more of a point and click adventure. I think we will see a resurgence of games like the above list. Those games in my opinion are really awesome and need to come back big.
One game I wish developers would remake in todays graphics and gaming style is the WishBringer game. Which back in the day was a text only adventure where you read and select choices. Kind of like the pre-beginnings of RPGs.
Everybody is forgetting this controller can be used as a mouse so you will have the point and click mentality. So expect a lot of games like those in the forum arcade which is not a bad thing cause many of those types of games are addicting as hell and many casuals like these games like your parents or grandparents for instance.
Sword fighting games would work well like Zelda and LOTR. Hell just about all games would work well with a couple exceptions.
I just thought of this but an Eternal Darkness sequel would be an awesome title with this new controller. Shooting games FPS, Traditional, Gallery will probably make a big comeback with this system. Though I fear the Columbine mommies will bitch about this.
As for fighting games such as Soul Calibur. I can not see this happening as the game requires to many buttons, moves and combos for just swishing Nintendo's Magic wand around. The shell controller will be used for games like such.
Speaking of Magic wands there might be a couple of games where you cast spells using motions of the controller.
Also expect the Revolution's menu interface to be point and click like Mac and Windows operating systems.

Oh by the way anybody see that picture of Microsoft's X-Wand that is similar to Revs controller. The image codes aren't working so here is the image link and source.

I personally think you can get more complex with games with the Rev controller over the competitors. It just looks more simpler and attractive to the media yet it can obviously do more at the loss of what? 2 buttons and one joystick. Think of it this way. If gyro was used for Link's sword or for clicking on things to make thing that feel like a chore fun and you kept the control scheme similar to Zelda WW, You easily got two free buttons. Starting with the N64 there seems to be this thing with only a start button. The Revolution adds two more buttons to that. So really you have 4 free buttons you can use. Now you have the gyro sword and if it works anything like in the arcades you're getting more complex than a lot of action games already. I didn't even mention the tilt and it gets overboard.
Personally I think 3rd party developers will have a hard time switching controls over to the Revolution. And I don't see how a lot of games would work on that controller. But 1st party games by Nintendo should be awesome.
The shell will be just like a conventional controller. Ports will work fine.
Basically the machine will have the shell, allowing any game on any other system possible, while the remote will make a library of games possible only on the Rev.
Good one, Nate...Originally Posted by Nate
