I just got Xbox live, HELP!

So what do I do, and what do I need? I hook up the system, enter in my number and then what? I heard you need a credit card number, do they charge it? Anything else you can tell me would be good to.

put in the xbox live set up disc and follow the on screen instructions, and yes you will need a credit card so if you download any premium content (cost money) they can charge you, you will know if the stuff is going to cost though to download. Also if you do not cancel your subscription before a year is up they will automaticly charge it to your credit card.

If you have to pay for downloaded content, they make it very clear that you do, so don't worry about being charged without your knowledge. Just look at the details when you are downloading.

START UP DISK???????? I just bought xbox live, I got the 1 year card, a headset, and crimson skies, why didn't I get a start up disk? Also, I tried using it the other day, it said the IP and DNS were ok, and the cables were connected, but it says xbox live not found, does this have to do with the lack of a start up disk? Thank you.
