    Another "special" GBASP

    http://www.gamespot.com/news/2004/03...s_6092436.html

This is rediculous. Nintendo, you're already selling the hell out of these things.. this extra special SP isn't needed. But that's not all! You can get these titles for ONLY $19.99!

    Donkey Kong
    Pac-Man
    The Legend of Zelda
    Super Mario Bros.
    Excitebike
    Ice Climber
    Xevious
    Bomberman

..I can get half of these games for FREE in Animal Crossing. As if that's not enough.. Nintendo Americas VP sounds like a complete toolbox.

"And if you aren't just dying to get your hands on the gnarly new Classic NES Limited Edition GBA SP, you're a total dweeb."
Riiiight. I'm a dweeb for not wanting to pay $99.99 on something that I can make myself with a few good permanent markers and little bit of talent. Don't get me wrong here guys, I love Nintendo, I just don't like this move of theirs at all. Not really sure why, maybe it's the VP's idiotic language.

You'll also notice that like half the GBA library is NES/SNES ports anyway. It's real depressing.

The GBA is lacking in much original content. They need to work on that.

Who's more foolish: Nintendo for producing more designs for the GBA SP, or the people paying the extra money for the newly designed GBA SP? Nintendo's using them ol' smarts o' theirs.

Business is the true game, my man. If something is different and "limited", people will undoubtly fork out the extra dough for their hands on something that can be "rare" in the future. And why shouldn't Nintendo release more designs for theur hardware. It only gives more options to the people, and it definitely isn't costing the company if not, only one cent more to make per unit. And somewhere o'er there in Nippon, are bound to be people who will buy each design for their collection. Wouldn't be surprised if people here did that too.

And as for the GBA lacking in originality, I beg to differ. Asarien would love to see anyone create a title that stands out on a 2D handheld machine, with more than half of the titles ported from both NES and SNES, and titles from Dreamcast, PlayStation, Game & Watch and X-Box. And on top of all of that, literally thousands of previous Game Boy games.

Come now, the GBA has every single genre and title you can conjure. From Final Fantasy to James Bond to GTA to DDR.

Now, let's not have any more ignorant posts again in this thread, eh bro?

What you speak is 100% truth, and they're making very smart moves from a business POV. But the gamers POV could be drastically different.

But the point is- we want to play some games that we haven't already played. Nintendo needs more fresh titles, not another Super Mario Advance that's going to be nothing more than a hot new remake of the original Super Mario Bros. They need a brand new Mario title.

  8. You gotta remember a few certain things.

First, complain all you want about the new GBA SP, but people will buy it simply because it's new. They should've put a lower price tag on it also to get better sales though, I mean even $89.99 would've gotten more people's attention they'd be like "omg that's so awesome! I can't believe how cool that is! AND they're making it cheaper! omg!!!" </valleygirl voice>.

Second, as far as the ports and junk go, I think it's awesome that they're remaking so many of the old games cause I'm able to play them without breaking out the old systems that don't work right half the time anyway. ALSO, the new generation of gamers really hasn't had a chance to play the old frickin awesome games! For example, my little brother hadn't played Super Mario for NES before they ported it. Zelda: LttP was a fricking awesome game, and now I'm able to play it whenever I want to it's awesome.

So don't go ragging on Nintendo for making some smart business moves.

Dreamcast can play CD-Rs right out of the box (which is why piracy was so rampant on the console). I liked how you could just pop in a burned copy of NesterDC emulator and not invalidate waranties and such.

  11. i have them for my ps2 :/ and comp

I hate piracy. The original mario and zelda, are still worth 20 dollars in my opinion.

Thank you nulliar for the sig pic

Have any of you seen the new GBA SP: VBE?

Er, Virtual Boy Game Boy Advance.

This one is actually differnt. To celebrate the 10th annaversary of the doomed Virtual Boy, Nintendo is releasing a GBA SP with a front lit color palette of only red. All 256 shades of red are accounted for. This is to due to the only black and red colors of the Virtual Boy. Their marketing strategy for this one is well thought out.

Look it up on ign or someplace.

Well if it makes you guys feel better, NOA (Nintendo of America) fought to have the prices lowered. Here is a quote from Planet Gamecube:

"Daniel says: Actually, I've heard comments that NOA had to push for that $20 price point rather than the standard $30 that NCL thought it should be. Crazy. "

EDIT: BTW, cant wait for Excitebike because I cant find the E-Reader cards for it and I can't find it in Animal Crossing and I havn't had time to find an original NES to replace my old one, so i will probably get that one.
