Ive noticed in the last year or two the GameCube has recieved several ports of PS2 games that ended up a bit worse than the original version.
1) SSX Trick----Textures not as sharp, framerate lower than ps2
2) Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit 2---Very poor framerate in areas
3) Spy Hunter----texture sharpness---poor framerate
There are more but these are the top 3 perpatraitors. This was obviously a result of a rushed transfer and limited optimization.
Thankfully the ports in the last few months have been getting much better.
Freekstyle for instance was a very decent GC release from EA and didnt suffer from the same problems.
I have always liked SSX Tricky better on the GCN, not to mention it has the extra feature of a "Making of SSX Tricky" movie.
I liked it better as well, but it still had those problems. I just wish more time would be put into ports.
Jstbcool is right. GCN version did recieve a video not available on the PS2 original.
I know...I watched it a couple times. I like the way they think up tracks.
I dont like the ssx games on any of them but i did notice the poor ports... its the same for a few early ports from ps2 to xbox also.
I thought frontline was crappy to start with on all consoles
I got medal of honor on gamecube cheap on ebay, its a good game, but the controlls are shity, its to damm hard to aim.
I thought the graphics and the play was shitty IMO on all systems it just wasnt that good, alot of people love the game though for some reason.
I think most ports aren't as good as the original. I don't think i've played one that has been as good as the original.
idk ive never played one that came acrooss as exactly the same for quality, but some of the ports are better, some are a HELL OF ALOT worse
I'm with psycho.. Most of the ports I've played aren't as good as the original, or have a few different things that stand out when you play it.
Personally, I prefer the SSX Tricky on GC, and not just because of the video. I liked the controls, and handeling better, just seemed a lot smoother to me. But that's just my own personal opinion.
On Spy Hunter: I only own it for PS2.. But I've heard that it does have poor framerate, and such. Not that it really matters... As long as the gameplay matters.
Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit 2: I don't own it at all.So I can't really comment on it. I've heard a lot about it, so I may check it out. If I do.. I'll rent it for both GC and PS2 and check out differences..
And Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance wasn't all that great in general. I would rather play the Baldur's Gate series on PC any day..
yeah, i like need for speed 2 on the box, spy hunter sux, the rest of those I agree fully with karavi
hm, i loved spy hunter. you know, that original spy hunter. im not too sure about the newer ones...
ssx tricky is for ps2 all the way, man. although im extremely unhappy with the direction sony's going at the moment, the ps2's controller was just MADE for games like THPS (THUG) and SSX--its racing with an edge (the edge being trick points).
moh:f was just too overhyped...i hated it...
[22:54] XboxEvolved360: Im just saying Im hungry
[22:54] XboxEvolved360: and because of that hunger
[22:55] XboxEvolved360: I think I have a better chance of doing it
[22:55] XboxEvolved360: if you make realistic goals then you are just another person
[22:55] XboxEvolved360: if you make crazy goals
[22:55] XboxEvolved360: and you dont make them
[22:55] XboxEvolved360: oh well
moh straight sucked, i hated ssx, its looking like the ports are improving though
