Hehehe... I hate this guy so much, it's not funny.

  6. No download for me, but I'd sure like high speed. I have a Windows 98 (that's right, all the way from the last millenium) and AOL 8.0....freakin dial up. Anyways, great.....Jack Thompson Live....Atleast he doesn't have his own tv talkshow.

  7. Well, the title was merely for dramatic purposes. You can rest easy though, he doesn't have his own radio show. Jack Thompson appeared on some radio talkshow called Chatterbox Live, and the link is from there. I forgot that not everyone has broadband,(silly me).

Seriously, he actually manages to sound halfway decent through this. Aside from a bit of crosstalk, it sounds pretty good. I'm listening to it right now actually.

I don't agree with everything he says, but Thompson completely owned that interviewer. He does have some very good points I must say. The release of "Bully" has such bad timing...heh heh.

  10. I kinda hafta agree with you there. Personally I'm in between on this issue. There were a couple of things on both sides that I had to take issue with, but it shows that he can be reasonable when he has to be.

  11. Alright, that's good news that he doesn't have his own radio talkshow, but I'd like to hear the points he makes to the interviewer you're talking about.

For sure. I don't think he is the jerk people make him out to be. He may have different opinions but he doesn't pull evidence out of his ass. Though he perhaps interprets it differently.

I must say though, this guy is pretty convincing.

  13. Well, its mostly a clarification of his position on the issues. Like for instance, the reason he's suing Take Two is because they deliberately deceived people when they said the code for Hot Coffee GTA:SA was there. Mostly, he was arguing about the impact of violence on the young mind, but he also brought up some of the legal issues that go along with the morality of the games, and the legal ramifications.

If only videogames had stayed within the geeks like us, this wouldn't have happened.

  15. I've always maintained that Jack Thompson is right. And this clarification segment only reinforces that. The gamer interviewers didnt even understand half the things he was saying. Gamers need to grow up and stop trying to be defiant and rebellious when someone actually comes in and points out obvious problems in the industry.

I've never liked Rockstar and now we see how they're damaging the entire gaming industry. Nintendo was smart for distancing themselves from these idiots.

Agreed. The interviewers were completely outclassed by the guy. I was embarassed for them. Their arguments pretty much boiled down to, "stop trying to ruin our fun!", which is basically the same ridiculous banter you here from message board to message board in the internet gaming community.

Rockstar did mess up. Now America doesn't think that it can trust the gaming industry, because obviously, the system didn't exactly work in this case. I respect the company ability to make good games but they could truly damage the industry in the long run with this kind of deception. And after the gaming industry for years tries to insist that violent games don't affect the violent tendencies in school kids, they go ahead and prepare to release a game called "Bully" where a school kid gets sadistic revenge on those who wronged him. Like the politicians needed any more ammunition...ha...

  17. This guy certainly isn't mindless like many other people who attempt to stop this sort of thing. Hopefully Rockstar will get a million lawsuits and go bankrupt and Nintendo laughs it's ass off at them while Sony cries endlessly....

  18. Yeah, Im hopeful that Rockstar will be crushed by this.

They truly have always acted like "rockstars" or "divas". They bashed traditional gaming, made fun of non-grotesque violent games like Zelda and Mario and they acted like they could do anything they damn well pleased. And now they're getting bitch slapped.

Rockstar intentionally left that hot coffee thing in there knowing that mods would discover it and it would create buzz and sales as people flock to see the inappropriate material. They actually thought they could "push the boundaries", profit off of false advertising, and lie and get away with it. Serves 'em right.

To me these two interviewers threw out the best of the dissenting game media's arguments and Jack destroyed each and every one of them. The case is closed. And put this down as a great blow to the Hollywoodization of gaming.

I may not agree with some of Thompson's past cases, statements, and crazy emails, but his logic and purpose is right on the money and I hope he succeeds. The way the gaming media portrayed all of this to make him look like an idiotic monster just goes to show how much power the gaming media gatekeepers have on consumers in the industry.

Well, listened to the majority of the interview (didn't think it was that long) and I have to say it enjoyed me quite a bit. Both sides had some good arguments about the different subjects. But then again, both parties also had some shallow ones, though small in numbers.
