    Alright...DS...and stuff...Questions

Alright, so I haven't been up with NNow except for reading the news and such, and finally, i'm back to the forums, so I can annoy the hell out of all my people, and some of the new faces i've yet to annoy, but don't worry, i will reach you.

So, for all of you, ESPECIALLY those that I know and trust...and call me...Dwag... .I want to know..

Anything about the DS. Is it worth getting? And if the battery dies... (all batteries eventually die for good, right?) Is it replacable? AND.. is there a battery pack thats reasonably priced for it... and FINALLY.... are the games worth it yet? (I know Lunar will be... but thats all i'm sure of)

"Because all this time... I've deceived you
I made myself out to be strong
But I'm not that man anymore, if I ever was
I was stupid, a fool... wrong.

    And see that"

    "I want to fade away
I want to blend in with the stars, tonight
    Land upon the moon
Feel my own weight lifted under me
    From an unnatural force
    Please take me away"

  2. As far as I know the battery in the DS is good for about 500 recharges, which is a lot of game time. They are replacable... but I think only through Nintendo's website at the moment. I may be wrong, since I haven't looked this stuff up in ages.

I personally think the DS is worth getting at sometime or another for the sole reason of Rev connectivity and online/group play. I bought mine mainly because of Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles and Legend of Zelda Four Sword Adventures, which will be popping up for the system sometime down the road.

As for games that are worth it YET... if you have friends with DS's then Meteos is a fantastic pick. For solo play Warioware Twisted! is one of the best games for the DS; the use of the gyro is amazing.

Go take a look at Jump Superstars. This was probably the main reason why i just got my DS. But then again don't take too much of my advice since im more of a PSP user than a DS user.

What I recommend is reading heaps and heaps of reviews about all the DS games that interest you, and even some that dont. There are about 50 DS games that I am looking forward to, but as for ones that are out now... hmm... Mario 64 is awsome, MP Demo is entertaining for at least a few weeks, Meteos sounds fantastic, although I havnt played it yet, Splinter Cell just came out and could be really good if its like the console version, oh Kirby is (again) apparently a must have, just like Meteos. I think Bomberman came out recently aswell and so did Goldeneye. These are the ones that interest me that are out at the moment. Also, Im in Australia, so you might want to check out the Nintendo website ( www.nintendo.com ) and have a look at all the games that are out and coming out. (Some of the games I mentioned are out in America, but not Australia, not that it matters to you.)

The DS will definatly be worth a purchase in the future months, and even now I think it is worth it. But like I said, read some reviews and find out about the games and if you think theyll be good then go and get one. :\

@the_cube: I think it's wise if you didn't mention Goldeneye DS in the future as well as Splinter Cell DS: the first is a below average title whereas the second game is inferior in every way compared to the console versions. Why would he like this one if he already has a current-gen console?

On-topic: it's worth getting a DS now, currently it has some very good titles and much more are approaching starting from September. If you happen to like Wario Ware Inc., be sure to try out Feel the Magic as well. Same-ish gameplay concept, but a highly amusing "storyline" and whacky humor. Kirby DS and Meteos would also be fine, and be sure to keep an eye out for Another Code / Trace Memory.

As for future games: Castlevania DS, Metroid Prime: Hunters, Trauma Center: Under The Knife, Advance Wars DS, Mario & Luigi 2, Mario Kart DS, Lost In Blue and many more. If you want a good import title: Electroplankton could be worth it and Jump Super Stars is shaping up to be a very fun game, though we'll have to wait for some reviews to be sure.

Well, I hope this kind of helped >_>

buy a DS (comes with Mario 64!) and then get Meteos. That game alone is practically worth the $180. And, as everyone else has said, there are a bunch of great coming in the future.

Also, the spare batteries are $15 on Nintendo's website.

Big thanks to Ihsiin for the sig!

    Fixed.

As long as you can operate a Phillips head screwdriver you can replace the battery [pricing and availablility in above post].

As far as being worth it, if you can find the Super Mario 64 DS bundle for $149 I'd say go for it. Must haves so far include Meteos, Kirby: Canvas Curse, and of course SM64 DS. Honorable mentions [suggested if you enjoy the genre]: Polarium (Puzzle), Puyo Pop Fever (Puzzle), Yoshi Touch and Go (Arcade/Sidescroller), Another Code [Not out in U.S. yet] (Myst-like), Feel the Magic: XX/XY (think WarioWare), and maybe some others that I'm forgetting..

The batteries are replaceable. I believe I saw them on the Nintendo website for only $15.

  11. DS has the best lineup ever.
Seriously. There are about 20+ games I plan on buying, and it's only been out for about half a year.

rge DS is a pretty good handheld... the Mp demo was fun as hell with multi player...very easy to control with e touch screen...i hope they make more FPS for the handheld later down the road...

Polarium is a fun puzzle game that can keep you occupied for some time...

Definately and also then there is the free online service which could blow the portable world wide open to heaps of possibilities. The DS has a lot going for it.

If you want to buy one I would either snap up the deal that is going on ATM in the US with the free SM64DS or wait for another great deal to come out. Nintendo will probably start pushing out great deals with all of the great games coming out.

For right now, the DS really isn't worth getting. BUT, wait untill the fall. There is going to be a boom of DS games that are sure to massively push sales (mario kart DS, Animal Crossing DS, Trauma Center, and Nintendogs). Also, Animal Crossing and Mario Kart are going to be available for use with WiFi. So in conclusion, yes the DS is definitely worth getting. I'm even banking on it beating out the PSP in the end.

Sorry there young padawan. You are sadly mistaken.

Meteos, Kirby, Polarium, NanoStray, Mario 64, Wario Ware, Zoo Keeper, YTAG.

but yes, the DS Fall line up will kick ass

In addition to what these schmucks said, you may or may not want to consider importing Jam with the Band. There's no reading involved, and it's very fun.

    Well here is my advice:

    1. Get a Electric Blue DS( Reason? It is cool, and for a limited time you can get a free copy of Super Mario 64 DS on it. Totally worth it.)

    2. Get Screen Protectors( You might slide the stylis too hard and scratch your screen. Just remember, when you put them on, make sure oyu put them on as quickly as posible. They pick up things in the air.)

    3. A Gamestop DS carrying case( It will save your DS from some falls. But don't test it. It also holds 6 DS games as well as some GBA games.)

    Now, on the gaming front:

    1. Super Mario 64 DS( if you don't get the electric blue DS. This is one the must haves on DS. You say, well, I had it on N64. Well, they added 30 stars to make 150, there are boss fights, it is multiplayer, you can be mario, Luigi, Yoshi, or Wario, and there are about 36 minigames that will keep you playing fo months.)

    I'll post more later.

Sorry for the double post. Here is some more to go with my last:

    2. Meteos( I'm not too big on puzzlers, but this game just sucked me in. If you have a DS, then get this game. The same goes for the below.)

    3. Kirby: CC( The only reason this gets third is because I don't have it. But mag editors have dubbed this game, " The DS game DS owners have been waiting for". This will for sure be my next DS buy.)

    4. Warioware Touched( This game is good as well. This game throws various minigames at you quickly. You have to figure out how to accomplish them before the time runs out. This game also uses the mic option.)

Get these games and then start saving up for the slew of AAA titles that will be coming out in the months ahead.
