seems that IGN *just* launched its PlayStation3 channel tonight

    'Possession' Revealed

this game looks like utter crap - and it's probably actually a PS2 game. no way is that PS3, or even Xbox360

It's about time they put up a page. I thought they'd open up their PS3 page later this year, but I guess E3 will have a lot to show.

PS3 baby!! I can't wait till IGN get a PS3 logo to furnish the site. About possesion, that game certainly wouldn't be a good showcase for the PS3 or any next-gen game for that matter. The screen on the page doesn't look much better than Sims 2. Some of the city scapes look okay though.

    as julps31 said:

the graphics arent painful to the eye but if you read the article it states that there will be 100's of people and zombies getting ripped to shreds in real time and.

the city also gets destroyed in real time.

putting these two factors in i still expected a little more in the graphics department

    what do you guys think?

Looking at games like Half Life, F.E.A.R., and Doom 3, I am very interested to seeing how they will pull this game off.

  6. the game mertonome looks great the city details are eye poping. If that is in real time than wow wow wow!!!!

  7. ps3.ign.com looks badass! I love that MGS4 pic!

The games not due out until 2007, so the graphics will probably improve by then (although I think they are pretty good already).

The game sounds like a cross between State Of Emergency and Resident Evil. From the Q+A at IGN it sounds like there will be chaos with hundreds of humans and zombies all being mutilated in realtime and the streets also take damage

    It looks promising.

it is funny that IGN opens a PS3 section where X2’s is no where to be found. It is understanding the case of Ninty’s since very little is known, but X2 is supposedly the most talked about console yet.

I made a quick visit to gamespot and couldn’t find any next-gen section. What other sites have one?

As a note, I think sites should have a general section about next gen as a whole. Then, when more info is learned, individual sections will be opened till the original ‘general’ one is canceled.

Probably improve? I've seen better cars in GTA, although the
environment does seem to be packing a slightly better look. If next-gen
consoles are any leap beyond this gen, I most definitely see a better
    looking game by 2007.

    Here you go..some Mentronome pics.

...environments are very impressive if you ask me. Especially in the city. This game could be very interesting. Look at the last screen. Reminds of a slightly brighter Silent Hill enviroment. Our next-gen survival horror games are gonna be off the hook. 8)

    well what do you know?
I found a notice to PS3’s section in PS2’s, so I went to Box’s and found nothing.
But why does both PS3 and X2’s sections have current game media links?

About Metronome pics; they do look good, and I see the indoor scenes as viable in-game. They are narrow spaces, so much work and detail can go along way there.

You know they're using the Reality Engine for that game "The City of Metronome"

    Here ya go...

    Team Tarsier Releases 'Metronome' Media
    April 7th, 2005

A set of Metronome screenshots running on Reality Engine is located at the Reality Media page, more on Team Tarser's website.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Team Tarsier and GamePort AB announced today that their newly developed prototype Metronome is on it's way to E3.

“A next-gen adventure game where sound is your weapon.” Venture into the city of Metronome, a sprawling mass of haphazardly built houses and makeshift machinery where the outlandish inhabitants are carrying out their chores day and night. A city where the life of every citizen is dictated by the Corporation, a single bureaucratic entity that owns all the land, the entire infrastructure and all the industries.
Filled with a strange desire to work, nobody seems to find time to pause and question the actual purpose of the city.
Explore winding alleys, skewed rooftops and crowded apartment buildings as you search for proof of the Corporations secret agenda. Listen out for sounds to record that will help you manipulate your surroundings and your enemies, as you slowly uncover a mystery that reaches out from the borders of the game and into reality itself.

    Key Features

    Sound recording
Record and store any sound you can hear. Different sounds have different properties making them valuable for a wide variety of tasks.
Use recorded sounds in various ways
Fight enemies by using loud and destructive sounds. Manipulate and soothe characters by using melodious and seductive sounds. Fool enemies by clever usage of the right sounds at the right time.
    Sound based problem solving
Record and replace the sounds of objects in the world to make them behave differently, combine recorded sounds to create new functionality and fuse them into items.
    Make some noise
Can't find the specific sound you need? Create it yourself! Shove a bookcase down some stairs, throw a rock through a window or simply annoy someone enough to make them shout at you and then record the result.
    Planting ideas
By merging collected sounds and various ingredients, ideas can be created. Ideas that can be used to inspire and control citizens.
    Cinematic soundtrack integration
Our music system allows unprecedented control over the presentation and style of the gameworld. Subtly let the footsteps of a shady character you are following coincide with the sneaky beat of the music, have him stop and look over his shoulder exactly as the music pauses.”
    Technology
Metronome is powered by Artificial Studios' Reality Engine.

    Team Tarsier at E3
Metronome will be shown at E3 for publishers and selected media, to schedule a meeting please contact Mattias Nygren at mattias@tarsier.se.

For more information about Metronome and Team Tarsier please contact Andreas Johnsson at andreas@tarsier.se.

  19. Those pics look great for this gen, but not next-gen. I hope next gen's graphics look better then that. This is a comparison of a game from this gen to this next-gen game.

    Metronome

Pretty close if you ask me.

  20. :? I'm not really impressed by any of the screens posted here.

Dont get me wrong, they look really nice, but I can see a AMD FX-55 and Radeon X850 XT PE combo running them. Possesion doesn't look good at all... I know a lot is going on in that pic, and that its not completed yet but....

...my expectations are probably way to high.
