If I had a portable HDD, is it possible to stream its content to PSP- using it like a memory stick?

with a firmware update you could, but I don't think it is possible at the moment.
Sony could write some drivers to allow external USB storage devices(ie. HDD's)
or if you have a server you could potentially stream live music from the web, but in what format....?
I am patiently awaiting such an upgrade
so if I connect PSP to an external HDD, it won't recognize it?
so I can't either save on it, or play movie files from it to PSP?
I really need to know because I am planning on buying an HDD solely for PSP. I would love to be able to carry loads of anime with me. memory stcks are just too small for that.

Just curious, but would the Type A to B USB connector be able to power the HDD? I'm not sure, but from what I can see it doesn't.....but don't hold me to that. Otherwise how else are you considering powering the drive? I hope not from the PSP....that would seriously kill the battery life fairly quickly.... Also at the moment there are no drivers I believe to support the HDD in the PSP. I suppose a nice 2.5" drive would be nice to have around....carry movies and shows and possibly games would be nice. 8)
correct your psp wouldn't recognize it, in fact there is no way to interface it.
you can go into USB mode, but that makes the PSP identify itself to your OS as an external storage device.
I believe there are external drives that come with power cords, if not you could potentially fab one, its not that hard.
(power is not really the problem, its having an interface to external devices that is preventing any such thing from happening)
Lets just hope SONY starts getting creative with firmware updates....!
