I will be getting a PS2 for Christmas, and was wondering your views on the following games I was thinking about picking up in the near future. Consider the following things the most: Replay Value and gameplay.
Here are the ones I will be getting no matter what you say:
Virtua Fighter 4
GunGrave
Suikoden III
Final Fantasy X
Ico
And here are the ones I am considering, which is why I need your help.
Sly Cooper and the Theivious Racconus
Jak and Daxter
Onimusha
Space Channel 5 Part 2
Suggestions are welcome, but just for reference I don't like shooters or the GTA series that much, so don't bother to mention them.
I enjoy RPG's, platformers and adventure games the most. I also like original games, with unique gameplay.

I forgot to add...
If any suggestions are made, tell me about the game, and why I should play it.
I'm too lazy to look up info about the game..

Thanks.

Here I looked up some things on gungrave and copied some text so here ya go:When it comes to dispensing justice with extreme prejudice, nothing beats a gun-wielding, death-dealing anti-hero. Gungrave for the PlayStation® 2 computer entertainment system casts you in the role of Grave, a long-dead assassin sent to annihilate a mysterious criminal organization. The tools at your disposal: a gun in each hand and a coffin full of hardware strapped to your back. You'll lead Grave through huge environments ranging from the bowels of the criminal underworld to graceful towers stretching toward Heaven, all filled with relentless foes that will stop at nothing to bring you down. In these stages, there's no such thing as window dressing -- everything you see on the screen can be perforated with your firearms. Gungrave features an intuitive control system that lets you to perform a variety of graceful moves, and DVD-quality cutscenes by renowned anime artist Yasuhiro Naito. If you like full-tilt action with a healthy dose of anime-inspired mayhem, Gungrave will blow you away.
Huge stages filled with destructible environments, disposable enemies, and nightmarish bosses.
Devastating special attacks and high-powered weaponry give you the edge you need to survive.
Vanquish enemies with style to unlock more secret movies and attacks.
Dramatic movie-quality cutscenes showcase original animation from Yasuhiro Naito, creator of the hit series TRIGUN.
More than 70 3D virtual action figures to collect.
Oh yeah and here's the icon
Damnit,I'll redo the icon
I make this big because I have thought time about it. Now, read on for a smaller size.
Gungrave is a revolutionary game by SEGA, which combines anime with shooting people up with an infinite number of bullets. why? because reloading is for pussies.
Now, Jak and Daxter is a nice rental. You'll beat it and never look at it again. For your FFX thoughts, only get it if your ready to take away your life for about ten hours, then get bored and play it off and on for about a month.
Sly Cooper is nice...but repetitive. Tony Hawk IV is a must have, though. Think about the PS2 controller. It is the original THPS series controller, and the game fits on it without question the best.
Suikoden III and Ico are both phenominal, and worth every cent of what you spend.
Though, don't bother with VF4. Get Tekken IV, or Dead or Alive 2: Hardcore. I like DOA2 better, mostly because it's fast, non stop fighting that takes a little to master, and you have fun in mulitplayer mode a whole lot more.
And be sure to pick up the PSone classics like NFL Gameday 98 (the best NFL game ever produced by anyone), Bushido Blade 2 (the best two player sword killing action you will ever find), and Final Fantasy VII, which revolutionized RPG's.

Jak and Daxter is definitely a rent only title.![]()
Media doesn't create killers, it makes them more creative
Alright thanks.
Spatula: I already have DoA 2 for Dreamcast, so I'm not really intent on picking up Doa: Hardcore. I like the DoA series and all, but how much different is DoA 2 from Hardcore? Tekken 4 seems nice, but I like the Virtua Fighter series better, I think the VF series, is much more solid than Tekken. I will give Tekken 4 a rental. I choose Virtua Fighter 4 because it takes time to master, the the VF series isn't too friendly to button mashers.
I also don't like Tony Hawk, I should of said that from the start. My fault.
I plan on picking up some PSOne games like FF 7, Crono Cross, Star Ocean, Lunar Silver Star Story and a few other RPG's.
Also, any thoughts on Rachet and Clank?
I spent no time on this signature.
Ratchet and Clank is nice. Yea; get it if you want to be treated. Though it may also get a bit boring after a while.
Arc the Lad Trilogy, if you want it. It holds all of the Arc the Lad RPG games, but its makers kept pushing the release back. so i dont even know if its out.
and hardcore really doesnt have much different from the dc version worth bragging of.
thats a good number of games you have.

U like rpg's. Get kingdom hearts. Here is end part of the ign review.
Closing Comments
Indeed, I found this entire game quite impressive. For something with a goofball camera like this to nevertheless remain a compelling action-RPG requires some substantial assets in other areas.
Kingdom Hearts assuredly has those assets. It's hard to properly express the coolness of this game's setting and presentation to someone who hasn't dove right into it. Donald Duck gets flattened by Yuffie the ninja slamming the door as Squall and Sora bash Heartless out of second-story windows -- thoroughly unlikely, yes, but doesn't it sound cool? Well, perhaps not to some, but if so, they're not geeky enough to be reading this, and are hence advised to go find some other website.
The game as a whole shows some loose ends hanging here and there, things like that Gummi Ship that just don't seem to justify their existence properly. Given the size of this project, though, the number of disparate elements needing to be crammed together, and the huge variety of cooks stirring the soup from both the Square and Disney sides, it's amazing that this has a single end sewn up tight, never mind that it turned into such an engaging adventure. If you like Square, or if you like Disney, or if you'd just like to check out an impressive action-RPG, Kingdom Hearts should be at the top of your list this fall.

Presentation
A simple story, an engaging cast, and enough character for a fistful of other games. Production values all around are top-notch, and the interface is versatile while remaining simple. 9.5
Graphics
Strong designs and brilliant animation carry the day, even if the total level of detail isn't extremely high. 9.0
Sound
Yoko Shimomura's score pulls a disparate variety of influences together, and the voice acting is superb. 9.5
Gameplay
Compelling and effective, but not without some severe problems at the time. The camera still makes me dizzy... 7.0
Lasting Appeal
The main quest is 25-30 hours with a modicum of side-questing. Completists will get a good 40 hours at least. 8.0
OVERALL SCORE (not an average) 9.0
Thanks, I forgot about Kingdom Hearts. I'll definatly give it a rental sometime.

I would just rent Jak and Daxter... I didn't like it too much.
You should get Star Ocean 3 when it comes out, and you should try Kingdom Hearts. My friend has it, and he says it's awesome.

Here is some shit on Onimusha (the first one), since that is the only one of those I own. It's pretty good, with good control and shit, nice battle system which is pretty easy to get down. Very good storyline, and the graphics are beautiful (pre-rendered). The only thing that gets me about this game is that it is too short, and there is really no reason to play it again after you beat it. It's kinda like RE (switch Zombies with Demons), except there is a whole lot more fighting than running. Oh, it has some nice puzzle scenes too.
Np, And if u like fighting games try Capcom vs. Snk 2.Originally posted by PhixedDice
