I didn't makt this a poll because many people have many ideas. I think the game of the year was Kingdom Hearts (don't shoot) but I'm thinking most of the forum goers will pick Metroid Prime or Vice City.
So my vote:
Kingdom Hearts
Yep, I will be picking Metroid Prime! I love that game!! i just beat it today to... it is soooo fun!!!
Super Mario Sunshine.
Letdown my ass, I loved this game, even the "secret of" levels which I found to be a real pain. It really was a great game, IMO.

uhh ... wasn't there already a thread like this ??? I can't remember.
Anyway ... I've played A LOT of great games this year ... KH, FFX, SMS, DMC, RE, RE0, ED, AC, JSRF, GTA : VC, Onimusha 2, SFA, VF4, among others ... yet out of all of the games that I have played and beaten, I can EASILY say that my GotY has to be ...
Metroid Prime ... It's that good.
If Vice City wins game of the year, I'm afraid that the video game industry will have reached an all-time low.
I vote for Metroid Prime. Even though I don't believe it deserves 2nd best game of all time on gamerankings, it is a great game.
Mario Sunshine is great too, but too few people like it. Damn them all, Sunshine r0x0rz.

Metroid Prime and Metroid Fusion and Super Metroid and Metroid II Return of Samus and Metroid
I really cant say. I have played alot of games but nothing i can really remember. Have yet to play metroid prime, though i really want it. Hmmm but maybe morrowind? I spent alot of time playing that game and the freedom is amazing for an rpg.
Oh yeah I forgot Metroid Prime.....the second place winner goes to Eternal Darknes....that game is so fucking amazing and its mind boggling looking at all the effort that was put into that game.
Vice City is so lame... and Ray Liotta's a hollywood washup. I hope this doesn't mean Postal 2 (featuring Gary Coleman) becomes game of the year 2003.
Tekken? Virtua Fighter? I only like looking at these games because I'm a fan of MMA... but, then again, I also like just watching Godzilla, and I (hopefully) don't hear anyone voting that game of the year.
Are we overlooking Animal Crossing? Final Fantasy X, I'll agree on that. What about Castlevania: Harmony of Dissonance? Timesplitters 2? Super Mario Sunshine is high up on my list. Metroid Prime? Yeah... it's got what it takes to be one of the best games made via franchise. It certainly has the feel to it, and that's what games are about.
Want me to throw a pick out there for game of the year? I'd like to say Final Fantasy X. It does what I love best about video games... a great story. I love tales of the eternal struggles between good and evil. It had many a location, and it's presently the PS2's only redeeming factor (seeing as how every game coming out for it is also coming to NGC or PC... or at least, the ones I want to play).
You can keep your Kingdom Hearts and stick it. I don't need a half-breed Square hero mixed with Goofy and Donald for your whole adventure, I don't care how nice the game plays.
Halo... coming soon to PC. If I were to play an XBox... it'd be for that.
According to my friend (former XBox owner)...
"For great graphics and crap games, there's no power greater than X"
MMEEETTRRRROOOIIIDDDDD! all the way
Grand Theft Auto: Vice City
I'm thinking Metroid, but I really believe that Eternal Darkness is just so underrated. That game is one of my top ten favorites now and I never hear it mentioned when people are considering good games. It may not be the best game of all time or even the game of the year but it deserves to be mentioned.

Clandestine - Me
Out of all the games I've played, Madden 2003 is the one I enjoyed the most. Closely followed by Sunshine and Animal Crossing.
Yo it's metroid prime that game just rocks but animal crossing isn't too far behind
kindomhearts actually looks very cool but metroid I think is better. Vice city about equal with kindom hearts.
Metroid, with Resident Evil, Eternal Darkness, Animal Crossing, and Super Mario Sunshine following it (not in that order)
Teh Calgary: DwhittenEmpire, goku2057, Milly, Zac, Alias, Colin™, Spatula, mysterio, Nathan, C.J., Resident Darkness
Why is everyone overlooking Luigi's Mansion?

Because it didn't come out in 2002.

...and because this thread was made in 2002.
It's now 2003, and clearly Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles and Zelda: The Wind Waker will make the Gamecube a hard console to replace... unless (hopefully) the next Nintendo Console is backwards compatible.
I would go as far as to say (as I've said many times before) that the Gamecube is the renaissance for all video gamers out there. Xbox is trying appeal to video freaks, PS2 is trying to appeal to the "mature" gamer (while being the only console to censor BMX XXX), Nintendo Gamecube is doing what it set out to do and that's deliver great games.
Looking ahead at 2003, trust me, Gamecube is going to bury the X-Obilisk and steal a good chunk of change from Sony. Nintendo 64 fell hard, but Gamecube's on the high rebound. Just watch.
(PS: I'm still waiting on the PS2 to drop to $129, so I can finally finish FFX, DBZ: Budokai, Way of the Samurai, and Xenosaga)
