November 19, 2004 - Tecmo president Junji Nakamura took a few shots at Sony Computer Entertainment's next generation offerings earlier today during Tecmo's quarterly press briefing in Tokyo. Regarding SCE's push for the PlayStation 3, Nakamura said: "We don't feel the heat." This is in comparison to Microsoft's heated worldwide lobbying efforts for developers to develop product for the next generation Xbox system.
Nakamura's comments didn't end there. "There's no information from Sony. It's very different from Microsoft America," he stated, hinting that MS has been the more open of the two companies with its next generation plans. Getting a bit more up front in his criticisms, Nakamura commented that Sony's cooperation with the home appliance industry gives him the feeling that game functionality is being added as just a part of the picture.
While Nakamura feels that the Xbox is going nowhere in Japan, the next generation Xbox has a different fate in his eyes. Nakamura expects Microsoft to make use of the experience it earned in this generation to make the system a "formidable success" in Japan.
We'd suggest that Dead or Alive fans be in line for Xbox Next on launch day.
Don't know if this had been posted before , but any way maybe because they are coming out after but any way i could care less about temco DOA not best fighter in world and NG well DMC3 will answer that since i played the demo .
EURO METAL RULES ALL.
I saw this just now. Xbox fans are having a field day with it.Originally Posted by GUNDAMSEED

Makes me so mad though. I hope the PS3 crushes the Xenon...Doesn't look good at the moment though.
MS paid them a crap load of money for the DOA properties. I swear, they are starting to sound like Shinji Mikami. What do they expect? The PS3 is probably still in its early stage compare to Xenon. And Sony is an all-around electronic giant, of course PS3 is not the only thing they are cooking. You don't see the other bigger company complaining. They're lucky I love their Ninja Gaiden.
Signature is for the weak.
LOL. Don't pay attention to those guys over @ TeamXbox. I swear, their comments are just unbelievable. Specially when it comes to next-gen.Originally Posted by Grandia

Don't stress. While I will definitely miss DOA on PS3, you gotta remember that the XBoxNext is on a development cycle that's way ahead of both the Revolution and the PS3.
Sony doesn't need to sweat it out at all yet. They have their cards in line and are waiting for the right time for the world to see. Even the closest estimate we have for a PS3 release date was made by a guy from EA. He said that Sony's console will be 6 months behind Microsoft's. Sony hasn't said this, and neither has anybody else.
If Sony does this right, they can wait for the XBoxNext hype to come and go before they even say anything about the PS3. This way the XBoxNext will feel the fate of Sega's Dreamcast.
I swear sometimes i think tecmo kisses microsofts behind way too much.
in my game informer magazine the DOA creator said that whatever console is the most powerful is the one he will most likely develop for. If PS3 ends up more powerful what is tecmo going to do? Are they going to stay on with Microsoft or will they float to sony and start kissing their behinds?
1) The leader of Team Ninja hates programming for the PS2... so he stoppd.
2) Microsoft is more open because they are launching first. Everything Tecmo knows, Sony knows. Microsoft is showing their hand early hoping others to jump on. Sony can easily beat those specs and dominate the market once again. Either MS is lying to Tecmo (in order to conceal what they are doing) or they have made a grave error in showing their hand early.
Man the leader of TN is lazy i have said this many times . to think after 3 years it took to make NG that best they could do i mean it look good but game play was far being anything great i take dmc FCS(free combo system) over SCS.(string combo system ) . to make matter worst when they ask him why is it auto combo he said xbox could not do it FCS . Then later he said he wanted to but did not have the time . It could also be that SONY does not think tecmo are that big . I sure the big boys like EA, SE,CAPCOM,NAMCO etc know more than them about what's going on .
EURO METAL RULES ALL.
3) No one cares about tecmo's shitty games anyway. I dont understand why anyone would give a damn- were better off without a second rate publisher infecting the market with crap.Originally Posted by Josh

Tecmo is probably pissed because Sony hasn't even looked in their direction for a next gen title![]()
Why would Sony bother going Tecmo's way for games like Ninja Gaiden and DOA when Sony already has similar games like Devil May Cry and Tekken which are successful
Does he know something the Tecmo rep. doesnt?Shibusawa jokingly said he's forbidden to say anything about the capabilities of Sony's next-generation console, but he did say he expects to very closely replicate the appearance of the actors from the film in the game.![]()

They have no idea what they're talking about. Microsoft this, Microsoft that. Kissing butt will eventually infect their mouths with much sh*t...
Non-biased opinions are the only ones I want to hear...
I got an idea, an idea so smart my head would explode if I even began to know what I was talking about.
I believe all games are good if they have great gameplay and good graphics. Ninja Gaiden had it. But don't diss Tecmo for their games. Even though I don't play Tecmo games that often, I just can't see why you guys say that about someone's work. Thats just wrong. I mean thats like criticizing someone on their art. And even though Tecmo focuses a bit more on graphics (bouncing jugs  ) its still something I respect because of the work they did.
Now to Why the prez said what he said. I'm sorry to say guys.. but if you don't see whats going on you guys must have short-memory spans (not diss BTW). Obviously the prez is praising Microsoft for their actions. The reason why? The release.
Back in 2000, I remember when the PS2 came out. All the hype and shinanigans... blagh blagh blagh. Oh well. One of teh reasons PS2 sold alot was because it was released earlier than all of the other systems. Not only that XBOX was a new system. And Gamecube was a bit tarnished for their "Kiddy" image. Oh well.
Now as I mentioned before XBOX was a NEW system guys. Sony had a fanbase of 5-6 years backing them up. XBOX hadn't even been heard of. Now you see I have all three systems. And even though I don't want Playstation 2 fanboys to rip me to shreds, I like my XBOX more than any of the three systems. And to tell you the truth my Gamecube comes in second. So that only leaves my Playstation 2 in one more spot. Now all systems are great, but I prefer some more than others.
Now... XBOX has a fanbase. And they are taking Sony's approach at things. Strike while the iron's hot. They are going to try to swoo the Sony fanbase while they wait yet another year (or so I guess) for the PS3. Now from what I have seen, the gaming community lacks a VERY BIG virtue... Patience.. They practically steal anything that is worth waiting for.(And yes guys the Xenon is worth waiting for). Look at Halo 2 and Half-Life 2 for example.
Even though you guys are looking at his comments from a gamers point of view, I'm looking at him from a business point of you. And my statement to the prez of Tecmo is "More power to ya".
Tecmo is a company that takes the easy way and, like now, take shots at other consoles, which in this case is the Playstation 2. I have no respect for that.
Tecmo says they feel the Xbox' heat, i for one take that as a bad thing. They're pushing developers to trade their current gen developing tools for the next-gen's while there's no need to do so now seeing there's still enough money to be made with current gen consoles.
The Dreamcast is a console which failed because of the early release and ofcourse some other factors.Obviously the prez is praising Microsoft for their actions. The reason why? The release.
With the release of the ps1 Sony didn't have a 5 year fanbase behind them but they still dominated the console scene. Now as I mentioned before XBOX was a NEW system guys. Sony had a fanbase of 5-6 years backing them up. XBOX hadn't even been heard of.
Developers waited to develop for the Playstation before (DC-Ps2) and they will do so again (Xenon-Ps3).

while that may be true i still would like it if i can have the choice to play ninja gaiden and doa. microsoft is probably paying tecmo to make an exclusive game for xenon's launch so that's why they are so pro m$.
ding ding ding, we have a winner.Originally Posted by BigPapaSmurf
Sony's doing everything they should to get the word out about the PS3. With OpenGL support, collada, and Blu-ray you can't say, "i'm not feeling the heat". I feel that Sonys going to have all the good PS3 info early next year. Plus the reason the developers don't have the hardware yet is because its not ready. Until the graphics workstations are out Sony doesn't have anything to give to the developers, because they've been working so hard on the Cell. Take that Tecmo. Developer for the most powerful console.

There is a difference between then and now. I don't think you know, but developers absolutely hate programing for the PS2. The PS2 is the hardest console to program for. The XBOX being the easiest. And Im GUESSING that because of this the developers this time wont go "No lets pass on this one, lets wait for Sony". Alot of the developers that got teh developing kits for the Xenon are very happy with the simplicity of it.
Not only that Microsoft succeeded in making the XBOX very famous. The fanbase is growing steadily everyday. And Sony doesnt seem to be affecting that fanbase very much. In fact alot of my friends are planning to buy the PS3. BUT they said they will probably buy the Xenon as well. I myself am thinking of buying all three.
No one can say that the Xenon will be like the Dreamcast all over again. to tell you the truth.. the Playstation 2 din't kill teh dreamcast... it killed itself. If you research more into what REALLY happened to the Dreamcast , the Playstation 2 played a relatively small part in its demise.
I know exactly what happened to the DC, no need for you to tell me what "REALLY" happened.
Developers don't hate developing for the Ps2, it currently boasts the most developement support. The Ps2 is however is hard to develop for but that doesn't mean developers hate it except maybe Tecmo and Bungie, we all know why.
It is a fact the Xbox and GC are easier to develop for because of it's familiar architecture.
Developers aknowledge the fact the Ps2 is hard to develop for but they still develop for it and have faith in other Playstation hardware, the Psp has been overwhelmed with development support from the start.
I was just going to say this. Why would a company launching LATE be so arrogant as to show their hand first just so their competition can use it ahead of time? That's just bad management all together.Originally Posted by Josh
Although I don't believe Microsoft's next console will become the Dreamcast (due to them having more fundings), I do believe they could lose a few exclusive developers from this generation.
If Team Ninja doesn't develop exclusively for the PS3 next-gen (Of course if it does happen the be most powerful), It wouldn't be the least bit surprising at all since they chose the DS over the PSP. :? I'm assuming that their resent comments about having a stronger console was only said to direct the fire away from them.
I'm sorry, but the PS2 DID kill the Dreamcast. This was even mentioned by the main man himself, the CEO. The way he told the story, the Saturn was a failure because it showed no signs of unoriginality. The controller was pretty much the same from the previous Sega console and the hardware was close to equal to the PlayStation with the lack of any good titles that gamers were interested in. Sega lost around 1 million on the Saturn and desided to canned the console for something new, the Dreamcast.Originally Posted by SERAPHIM
When the Dreamcast was built, it was revamped beyond people's expectations (gaining tons of hype) while given an analogue stick(s) to rival Sony's machine alone with other new and inproved capabilities. When the Dreamcast launched the market, it immediatedly picked up in sales. I believe it was stated that the console sold more units on its first launch than any console of its time. The sales continued strong until Sony announced the PS2. With a much more poweful console, with online capabilities, and a built-in DVD player, Sega tried to compete by dropping the price of the Dreamcast with bundled software and accessories and even giving some of the consoles away for free as prizes. The market didn't bite.Eventually, Sega's Dreamcast sales dropped tremendously and eventually stopped dead in its tracks. Sega then found that they had more in stock and in production than what they had sold, losing close to a half of a billion dollars on the Dreamcast. From there, Sega stop making consoles and sold what was left in stock. Then turned away from the console market.
There is no doubt that Sony was the biggest threat and hit to Sega's fall in the console war. They were also competing directly with Sega before they were doing so well. So, who ever told you the PS2 didn't kill the Dreamcast has decieved you greatly.
