Boy, I am truly a Final Fantasy fan, but 30 frames per second seems a little lame. The, "you need a gameboy advance, and a link cable to play multiplayer." Also seems lame. Give me some multiplay-no-accessory-rpg game. However, it is good that a link cable may be realiced with the game.
Another thought, no experiance? What the hell is that about. You don't make an rpg and cut the whole experiance part from it. Sure, new weapons, armor, and items do help you improve. But, leveling up your character has been one of the greatest facets to the rpg games.
I truly hope this game is not a flop, but I'm seeing a few major problems with it already.
It's an RPG. More than 30 fps is overkill, besides, humans can't see but only a tiny difference between 30 and 60 fps anyways. All movies and films speeds are at 27 fps and no one cries about that.
Alright, I see your point Viper.
But, the other problems still seem to be a bit of a flop.
I agree with the lack of experience points being a drawback, but hopefully they will have a new system to counter that. I don't think it will flop in terms of it being a quality game but it may not live up to the hype that the original series has.
No, I didn't intend to state that the game would be a flop. I just don't see it being a big hit. That's all. It's the first square game on a nintendo console in a long time, and I just want more.
What do ya'll mean by frames? Is it good to have more or less? Sorry if this is a stupid question.![]()

More is better. Think of it as a flip book. Each page is a frame. The more frames you flip in a second the smoother the animations look. So, you want more frames a second, and you want to maintain the frame rate during the whole game without any lag.
Each frame is the game being drawn on the screen. At 30 fps, the system draws those polygons, textures and shaders 30 times in one second. At 27 fps, the human can no longer see the frames. It's
still difficult to see them even at 15 fps but the game speed will slow down in half. This is called slowdown or lag. At higher fps, the games animation looks smoother overall. 60fps is accepted now as a standard for most action paced games.
The link cable is bundled with the game. The multiplayer is an addition to those with Game Boys - just as online play for xbox games is an addition for those with XBox Live.
This isn't a strict RPG. It's an action-RPG as far as I'm aware. Does Zelda have experience points?
As for 30 fps - Wind Waker runs at 30 - it seems smooth enough to me. Halo runs at 30 fps - that's a smooth game as well. There's nothing wrong with 30 fps - in fact, unless you've just played Metroid Prime or something, you won't even notice it.
So I bet that racing games have alot of frames because the have to look smooth right. Well, that goes for any game.

Well Crystal Chronicles only seems more different from any other Square game (I would say Square RPG, but it's the same thing). The frame rate is indiscernable really. I can't tell the difference with SMS at 30 FPS or MP at 60. Well it is more like Zelda, plus this way players can't simply camp around and build up exp when they get stuck, something notorious with standard formula RPGs.
As I recall, TV runs at 24 frames per second not 27. Anyway how many frames isn't important as long as it's smooth.
Fear the power of the Fire Emblem! WHAT!? You fools don't know what's Fire Emblem? And you call yourselfs Nintendo Gamers!? Go here http://www.angelfire.com/games4/fesealsword/
and here http://www.angelfire.com/ny3/firemblem/index.htm
and study everything that's there. I shake a booty Mr. There's gonna be a test next Friday!
Yet, camping out to level your character up was fun. It gave you a sense of, my character is stronger than any of my friends. Many of my friends play rpg's and it's always fun to see which character has the highest level ect.Originally posted by Epona

The human eye can tell the difference between 30 fps and 60 fps, but 30 fps is still very playable. If I read correctly, the human eye can see up to 200 fps.
Trust me, I've gone from playing the Xbox version of Medal of Honor: Frontline to the PS2 version, and the drop in framerate is VERY apparent.
Yeah...
Frame rates in video games are intepreted differently by our eyes...
24 fps for TV can seem perfect, but try playing a game at 24 fps... it looks choppy as hell. When ever i benchmark my PC, there is one test where the fps drops to 28.... and it looks horrible... the truck is sliding across the gravel, rocks are flying up in the air, things are shooting at it, and it's all slow... not extremely slow, but you can notice.
You don't need even 30 for an RPG. It's not like the characters are going to the skateboarding or driving go-karts.

Having to have a GBA and a connector to play multiplayer sucks so much.
