Anyone heard about a possibility for this on the PSP ? maybe an FFXI sequal or such ? The possibility for this really interests me as the WiFi that the PSP has will get us some great online games, we all know that SCEA has got licences for some totaly awesome games that can easily go online.
There's bound to be a Final Fantasy game in time. Nothing has been confirmed apart from the games on www.pspinsider.com.
The Tokyo Game Show is in September, new games will be shown then.
oh i see , thanks. its no doubt that there will be a FF game but will there ever be one online , cant wait to see. Btw, will the PSP online be subscribtion based ? or does nobody know yet.
I just hope it won't cost more than $150 a year!
One could only hope.
It will be good if it isnt and i will get it!![]()
well if you have wifi in your house ( like i do ) $150 a month wouldnt be that bad , because you can always go online if your at home , but if you dont have such access to wifi and you dont live in a busy city , then its a little pricy since wifi hot spots would be hard to come by in a smaller city.
lucky for me i live in toronto and ive got wifi at home , so i wouldnt mind paying that much![]()
Dont you mean $150 a year cus $150 a month is a rip off.
Heh. Probably is, but that's only around 100 USD, well, maybe 120 now that the CDN dollar went up.Originally Posted by ultimategamer2004

yeah i think we both meant yearly, because the reply above refered to yearly subscribition. And i was talking US dollarsOriginally Posted by The_One
. Maybe others arent as pationate about online gaming as i am , but i would love to see what Sony does with this , because they a variety of things that they can use it for that the DS cant even get close to.
Only comes to about $13 a month, doesn't seem that bad, especially if you like to play a lot of online games.
Whats this Wifi u r all talkin' about ?? Is it faster than DSL,CABLE,T1. Whats its speed (512K etc) ???

its fast enough to get good lag-less gaming![]()
Err... I can't remember, but I think the fastest wireless ethernet transfer rate is somewhere around 50Mbps (I can be VERY off... I haven't read up on the newest wireless tech lately). Thats about 6MB per second transfer rate. But that's only for the wireless ethernet adapter. The internet browsing speed is still limited by the cable speed you are subscribed to.
Just as a comparison, ethernet cables have a max transfer rate of 100Mbps. That's approx 12.5MB per second.
EDIT: Sorry, I was WAY off... The fastest linksys offers is 11Mbps for wireless... no where near 50 .

6mbps is plenty ! considering most of you dont have any connection that can possible do a transfer speed of that. my cable connection which advertises its self as 5mbps, has an 800kbps transfer rate.Originally Posted by The_One
I dont know what my transfere rate is probably middle range not a load but not crap... If it advertises 5MBPS it should do that.
it conencts at 5mbps , but you will NEVER get a transfer rate of 5mbps , they are 2 different things.
if you want to do a test , go here : http://www.dslreports.com/stest?loc=97
Nonono!!! You don't get it. They advertise it as 5Mbps. NOT 5MBps. They are kind of sly, because 5Mbps is 5 mega BITS. Not Bytes. You have to divide BITS by 8 to get your real download speed in BYTES. Oh, by the way, wireless ethernet adapter with only 11Mbps is NOT plenty. Soon we'll have connections up to 20 Mbps (not likely any time TOO soon... but soon enough :P), and another thing, I use my routers to transfer info between my multiple comp (I got 3 right now), so I need a fast transfer rate for BIG files (files over 200 Megs and such). Thus, I stick to 100Mbps Ethernet cables instead of wireless routers.
It's probably an average 512K DSL/Cable connection.I dont know what my transfere rate is probably middle range not a load but not crap... If it advertises 5MBPS it should do that.

to correct everyone who has commented on WiFi's speed
all WiFi is 802.11 (thats what its called i have no idea why)
there are three different kinds
a
b
and g
the speedsand ranges are different
kind / speed / range
a / 54Mbps / 150-175 ft
b / 11Mbps / 300-350 ft<-----b is most common
g / 54Mbps / 300-350 ft
there that clears up all the confusion
