I tought there was a sticky about this but it doesn't seem to be here anymore. Anyway according to MCV UK the Psp's price has been announced.

DESPITE BOTH sides agreeing that they could be pitching at different consumers, Nintendo and Sony's new handhelds are set to hit UK and European retail shelves the very same week.
MCV understands that both companies have privately earmarked the week ending Friday March 18th for ship-in of the Nintendo DS and Sony PSP. This gets product into stores safely before the following Easter weekend, whilst giving both organisations enough time to let the market recover from the Christmas and New Year sales peak.
But whilst there may be similar launchdates, there will not be parity on price. MCV understands that Sony will pitch the 'aspirational' design beauty that is the PSP in Apple iPod territory - which means a starting price of £249.
Nintendo, however, has to consider its core market and has already pretty much guaranteed retail a launch price of £199, or lower if at all possible.
Publishers have reacted well to both machines, with projects already underway and their injection of excitement into a category so dominated by the Game Boy and first party games very much welcomed.
Analysts have already estimated that if Electronic Arts can replicate its current share on static consoles on the PSP, given that it is traditionally weak on Game Boy, this would add some $300m to global revenues for the US games publishing giant.
And seeing the release dates have been announced on multiple sites, the sticky should be removed...

i'm assuming the pounds will turn into US dollars for the americans, and into euros for other europeans?
Not a bad price for both...............
Allthough I feel sorry for those who wont to buy both machines of release..........
Converted it would be be $298 for the Psp and the DS will be at $238.
For that difference i would prefer the Psp over the DS anytime.
Pay 50$ more for a more powerfull system, movie- and musicplayer is very reasonable.

There was an article on Gamesradar which said the PSP was 200 quid and the DS at 100-130
PSP
249 pounds = 456.10 USD
= 373.59 Euro
= 621.33 CDN
NDS
199 pounds = 364.53 USD
= 298.55 Euro
= 496.57 CDN
I'm Canadian and that's a lot of money!!!![]()
You have to remember how often Sony does this............
£250.
take of the pound.....
add the dollar.......
$250.
You convert it into dollars, divide it by three then multiply it by two to get the US price.
250/3*2=166 Dollars, say about 180.
eehm euro is almost the same as dollar sow your doing something wrong..Originally Posted by benzo
strangely enough it is correct. I've tried many currency converters all say the same.

Yes, but currency conversion has nothing to do with it. When the PS2 launched in Euruope it cost three hundred pounds. When it launched in the US it cost three hundred dollars. We americans are apparently very cheap and Sony knows this.
I was replying to the previous posts but like i said, it will probably be around €300$

If the PSP comes out at $300 in America, it'll probably come out in Aus at $600 AUD.
I think for anything above $300USD Sony would be commiting PSP suicide.
I'm willing to bet a PSP that it'll be between $200 and $250USD.
And didn't I read somewhere that there's not going to be any regional encoding, so you europeans can import the PSP for cheaper than you can buy it locally.
Yup... lets see now if it costs you Americans 200 dollars it will cost us brits about 112 quid... WOW not bad at all!
If bush stays elected and the economy keeps falling at this rate then I think well be able to pick up a PSP for about 80 quid from America.
