Look, you're on parole at the moment, so don't push it.....
Keep on topic people.
LMAO, damn ranking system :P
That's not the ranking system.
Like I said, no more crap, lets get back to the subject of graphics.

the first workstation is going to be out in Q404, im pretty sure Sony is slightly ahead of schedule. im expecting the Ps3 early to mid 06. i doubt Sony will give the XB2 a big lead over them. of course you never know if the XB2 will get delayed and then give Sony either more time to finalize or a closer release date with the XB2 to compete more.

Even so, Sony will not let them get much of a head start. You would think so anyway.
Yeah it does seem a little early. I couldn't imagine that game developers have had games in the works that could be done by launch. so they might end up pushing it back.
I'm thinking that maybe the game has change...
We've heard developers working on next gen games since 03 (emulation). This
time around I think developers will make games up to the last possible moment when development can be ported over to real SDK's. This way specs won't be revealed early on and software environments will be there for the transition. However, this year is definitely the turning point for most (if not all) developers to start on next gen projects.
yeah that sounds about right to me. i'm no expert of course. I think Xbox2 and PS3 will end up launching within months of each other, rather than the 1.5 years (18 months) between PS2's Japanese release and Xbox's NA release.this is replying to megadrives Ps3 release date/workstation post:

probably it'll be half that gap (9 months) or less between Xbox2 and PS3.
9 month sounds good.Originally Posted by megadrive

oh there's plenty to talk about as far as graphics.
I so hope that PS3 is good enough to bring us a (gonna use a buzzword) a breakthrough of combined massive geometry, outstanding image fidelity and solid 60fps framerate. all of which are needed *together* to produce a CGI-like look. if you lose any one of these things, it wrecks the CGI appearence.
most CGI runs at 25-30 FPS and uses blur-motion, think about how nice it looks without blur andrunning at twice the FPS![]()

that wont make any difference. 25 with or without MotBlur or even 50 fps will look exactly the same. common sense. 8)most CGI runs at 25-30 FPS and uses blur-motion, think about how nice it looks without blur andrunning at twice the FPS
Our eyes see @ an average of 25 Fps so having more than 25 would be a waste of time and power. common sense. 8)
I think MotBlur is used on TV sets because of the different frequency they run at.
Uh.. really? PS1 didn't have any of those, and it still ran with CGI graphics. Haha, okay okay, I'm poking fun at you. I know what you mean, you're probably hoping that the PS3 will be capable of creating pre-rendered CGI graphics in real-time... Well, I highly doubt we'll be seeing and high-quality pre-rendered CGI in real-time whether it's got a Cell or not. It'll probably get close to FFX CGI, but still not as good as FFX CGI... So we still have a bit to goOriginally Posted by megadrive

I think the ps3 will do better than FFX CGI graphics. We'll be seeing aniamated movie graphics that's during the latter years like 09-10.
yeah, thats just wot i was thinking, when we eventully get to photo realism and beyond current cgi, games will actually look better than movies. But then wot about HDTV? Movies are probly gonna advance in quality because apparently when a program is encoded in high definition, it removes this motion blur and also improves in other areas, i might be wrong, i dont know too much about HDTV :? . In fact in the UK no one knows about HDTV.Originally Posted by Omega Blue

ur telling me u dont notice any difference when a game runs at 30fps or 60fps? U must have something wrong with ur eyes cos every1 agrees that they can notice a difference up to 60fps, beyond that just looks the same.that wont make any difference. 25 with or without MotBlur or even 50 fps will look exactly the same. common sense.

games will never look better then movies of current generations since movies can take as long as they want with the developement and can take hours to render one frame. graphics will eventually match movies but never be better since there will be a limit. graphics can only look as good as real life. and we should be hitting that mark by 2015.
