It should be able to convert MP3s into the ATRAC format like the current line of Sony ATRAC players do.

The PSP will play 8-tracks. Sony reallized the majority of there target users already owned many 8-tracks, and added it as a selling point.

well... since PSP screens are pretty small compared to out TVs, there is no point to encode your movies at high bitrate and high resolution.

few days ago i have re-encoded using Divx5.1 compression a Star Trek movie using VirtualDub.

(Stream)
Original bitrate: 750 kbps
New bitrare: down to 315 kbps

(Audio)
original: mp3 128 kbps
New: 64 kbps

as result:
-Great quality movie
-Great sound quality
-File size reduced to 250mb+ (original 715mb+)

Let's just hope a 512mb Memorystick wont be expensive when PSP arrives
